The mention of Post Mortem has me wondering when the concept for that was created and when the application process first got set in motion behind the scenes. Was it before some of the designers we like left the company? Whose concept was it? The lack of any apparent motion on the project might suggest that there isn't a real commitment to it at this point, nor anyone's hand on the wheel at all. It was last December that we first heard of it. The last issue of Volume IV of C&C....it was after they let go most of the designers. And it was months after that they added the Post Mortem page to their website. That's about the timeline that I remember as well. Given that it probably takes many weeks, if not months, to put together plans before announcing something, it's likely the concept happened before or just around the layoff.

"The call of a new artifact..." email just arrived. Seems to be nautically- themed... From the clues is is clearly from Lovecraft's Call of Cthulhu.

I find it telling that my email was addressed to me by my full name. The Curator was on a first name basis with me.
But then again, the Curator did not send this email.

No, and the new Curator has no grasp of English: "I cannot fathom what these strange and seemingly unconnected clippings have anything to do with each other. "
"What" = "why."

Definitely Cthulhu. And I have an obsession with Cthulhu, so this might be a problem. I haven't really seen anything to indicate if it's going to be an experience or just a 'thing'...

Shall we just show a photo of the artifact right now? I've already got it on my shelf.

Assuming it is the Cthulhu artifact, it's the first picture they ever posted to Instagram: I wonder if this will be a similar thing to the earlier C&C ephemera promotion where they miraculously found 20 copies of it in their warehouse and will be selling it at outrageously inflated costs.

Meh. I'm still waiting to see if anything becomes of Post Mortem.

I wonder if they partnered with someone like the H. P. Lovecraft Historical Society for this. They can put together a nice experience.

I’m sure if they partnered with somebody they would be advertising it like they did with TAakos. And I’m sure the Lovecraft historical society would have said something about it too.

I 99.99% guarantee this is not in connection with HPLHS. I’ve actually been volunteering at HPLHS this month, and they are overwhelmed with a single project, their radio theater adaptation of Masks of Nyarlathotep. Seriously, you should see their workshop; it’s basically nothing but props for the adaptation. I certainly didn’t see anything Cthulhu related in there that I didn’t recognize from previous HPLHS work. Still, if it is somehow in partnership with HPLHS, I’d be much more interested given the high quality of their work.

This will be the first new experience designed after they let go the entire creative team. So I will wonder at the quality. If anybody succumbs to the tempt Tatian and purchases it I’m sure a lot of us will be interested to know.
