so ... I signed up for ccc with a discount for the first 3 months. The first chapter was billed properly but took forever to be delivered. (not a ccc problem but a US mail problem) The second chapter was billed without a discount but they are promising to refund the overcharge, However, after 2 inquires the credit has not appeared. I did enjoy working on the first chapter but i am wondering if it is worth the hassle.
Am I the only one with issues?

I just sent an e-mail out to them, will let you know the outcome.
I have not yet received my 2nd issue here in US. Not complaining, just a status update.

E-mail Response from CCC:
==============================================
Thank you for your message and for bringing that to our attention. It looks like we had a bug in the system and the discount was not automatically applied. I've gone ahead and refunded you the difference as well as fixed the discount code for the upcoming chapters. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns and we will be happy to assist. Tammy ==============================================

Mine came in today - it has a "paper" element that's a little different this time. I don't have much time to dig into it this weekend but looks like it could be fun.
Edit: I also noticed my refund came through on Oct. 1. Admittedly, it's on my travel credit card that I rarely use except when making international purposes (made the international transaction fee too many times...), so I usually only check it once a month or so.

I did get the refund... and chapter 2 . I like the look of this chapter better than the first and will dig in soon. I look forward to reading everyone's feedback.

I subscribed to this (on a monthly basis since I really wasn't sure I wanted to commit). I, like others, wasn't really sure I wanted more paper-craft.
I worked on this with a set of friends (a couple that lives across the street from me). They are definitely in the casual puzzling category: I've done escape rooms with them, solved Post Curious with them, and one of them received The Treasure of John Augur from me as a birthday gift, but they're not hard-core puzzle-hunt people.
I offered them a choice between working on several puzzle "boxes" together: Sleuth Kings, Wilson Wolfe, Apocalypse, and The Detective Society. They chose Curious Correspondence because the format and theme appealed to them. I think they were also looking for something that could be solvable in a single evening and was self-contained (without needing to do a bunch of internet research).
We had fun with the first one and they're looking forward to doing the second with me. None of the puzzles were difficult, although we did have one issue where we missed an important clue (relating to digit order) and had to consult an online hint to find where we went wrong. The solution led to a video which was a nice conclusion, but was too dark and didn't play well on a mobile phone (trouble maximizing); I'd recommend a laptop or desktop for this part. Another thing that didn't work as well as we wanted was our ability to multi-task. Although there were multiple puzzles which felt like we should have been able to work on in parallel, we were gated by needing the same pieces of the map in different ways (front vs. back, for example). For group problem solving, having different things people can work on or look at at the same time is fairly high on my priority list.
Summary: light puzzle solving, fun theme, mixed results for interactive group solving.

I might be the only one still receiving the correspondence - Chapter III was a good experience in our house. I am in for another month. I had a 3 month commitment and after chapter II i was convinced I was going to cancel. I had problems with Chapter II. I needed to use hints a lot and even with the hints I couldn't make one puzzle work. I was ready to throw in the towel, then I really enjoyed chapter III. So.. another month it is.

I'm still receiving them too. But they take forever to get to me, so I'm hopeful I'll get Chapter 3 this week.

I'm still getting them, but I'll be honest Chapters 2 and 3 are in my pile of puzzle to do.

I need a little bit of help. PM or posted here whichever you think best. ** I just realized the most recent envelope I received (today actually) is number 4. Number 3 is not where it should be. Can some one give me small reminder of what is in #3? If it sounds familiar than I will need to start searching the cat’s hideaways for shredded paper. 😞

It has some shiny stuff and blue prints. Helpful?

I've played all 5 chapters now, and I've been generally pleased. The puzzles are a bit simpler than the MPC C&C's heyday, but a nice mix of originality and challenge to keep me interested. Lack of time (2 kids age 3 and 4-months) has led me to not be too much of a completionist on the puzzles. I'll usually give it try one evening, come back to it a day later, and then check 1-2 hints if I'm still stuck somewhere.
So far I think Chapters 3 and 5 have been my favorites. Satisfying puzzles, non-frustrating papercraft, and excellent integration of the puzzles with theme (particularly Chapter 5). I was a little let down by Chapter 4, but it doesn't seem to be a trend, just a blip.
Edit: Just realized this was my first post on the boards. Long-time lurker though, as I finished MPC C&C's Volume 3 vault years after everybody else (with tons of help from everybody's forum posts).

Welcome!
The last two chapters appear to have arrived with a new type of adhesive that makes the envelope a little more of a challenge to open. I definitely tore one quite a bit trying to get it open - which is sad because one aspect I liked was that it folded back up nicely. Also, this most recent chapter is, I believe, the first in which I had to alter/destroy a component to do the puzzle. I think the puzzle can still be done without it but the activity part was some of the fun (until it just became a mess, but it started fun! lol).
