I finally have a tracking number, but no shipment yet. They are punishing me! I feel your pain - the idea that they managed to ship to Germany within less than a week is thrilling, but mine does not seem to be there yet. Unless the recipient is keeping it a secret from me. Or threw it out. The horror!

This is my third experience in total after The Weeping Book and Tempus Fugit. In comparison to the first mailing for that experience, this is much more involved. The "human" hair....(shudder)
Forum members, I see some consternation with the "printed" versions of aging. Are there experiences that feel/look more real than these initial offerings?

Makes me wish I had more money so I could have ordered the extended versions.

The "human" hair....(shudder) Hey, we spent a lot of money so you would not put "human" in quotes there... Forum members, I see some consternation with the "printed" versions of aging. Are there experiences that feel/look more real than these initial offerings? Every other Experience I have seen to date had the documents printed on aged, yellowed or otherwise distressed paper, so this is a departure from the usual quality we have come to expect.

Blast and Damnation! They have had it since Tuesday and just opened it today - and are, so far, entirely uninterested!
I suppose my real work begins now...

I would say that in general, though not always, that their first mailings tend to be low-key and realistic and are designed to confuse unknowing recipients and hook them into wondering what this package was and who or where it could be from. A big part of that is printing the material in such a way that it could conceivably look real, which could include things like distressing the paper it's printed on (I'm nowhere near an expert on this kind of thing, so I'm not even sure what the right terminology would be for this technique). For example, Risen's materials feel very realistic to me, though I've seen reviews of it where people say that there were elements of one item in the second mailing that upon very close inspection revealed it to be fake, but that required experts in a certain field to be able to tell that it wasn't real. You mentioned The Weeping Book; the printing quality on that is such that several people whom I've shown it to at first glance thought it was a real journal, and consider the cover and how realistically damaged it looks and feels. While some elements of this feel real (especially the drawing and of course the hair), the staining on the letters is almost glossy and is clearly printed on, which at least for me instantly kills the illusion, and I could see why someone who got this would be intrigued but would wonder whether this was some kind of Halloween related promotion or experience (I could easily see it being considered as an immersive ad for a haunted house). I'm not saying there isn't a place for glossy print jobs in these kind of experiences, especially ones like Dispatch: Breakout that present themselves as games right away, but it's not at all what I'm used to from the MPC, and it doesn't at all compare favorably to something like Hunt A Killer, which has premium experiences at similar price points to this with extremely convincing aging done on all of the materials.

Sounds like I need to purchase Risen or King, then.

Even John Augur and Demon Jar featured authentically aged documents. With certain John Augur pieces I swear I could smell the sea water.

The move from hand-aging paper by distressing it (crumpling, ripping, and the application of tea to the edges) cannot be equaled by printed materials which try graphically to create the same effect. I call bullshit on this.

I call bullshit on this. Agreed. When I first looked at what I'd received, I was simply so engaged with the amount of materials that were there that I overlooked a deeper inspection's scrutiny of the elements' overall quality. Now that I look at everything, I can definitely see that there's been some "skimping" on making things look especially authentic. And once you notice critical things like that, it's hard to unsee or overlook them. The estate's blueprints were especially deflating, since for a document that's supposed to be that old, it looks and feels slick, brand new and barely unfolded. The aging is definitely less than remarkable too, as others have stated. The boil-down for me is that for something we've shelled out a great deal and waited so long for, I'm not as much of a happy camper as I wanted to be.

The last thing I wish to do with my comment is to irritate anyone. Of course we all know that is what I am about to do (probably). This was the first mailing, and while the price was high, we do not know what is yet to come. If the final artifact is some sort of "magic lantern", remember it will not be an "off the shelf" device. It takes the time of a creative person to generate these artifacts, then someone must "tool up" to produce them. Creative people generally do not come cheap, especially if they are any good. I realize it is the company's responsibility to have an idea of how many they will sell, but frankly such estimates are always hit or miss. Personally I am willing to allow MPC much leeway, until I have seen the entire finished product. If I am then disappointed I will inform, specifically as to how and why. I doubt they have the capability to read the minds of all their customers and to satisfy each of us individually. I I have spent much time researching the cipher code, the poetess on the mourning card and a tie in to colors that kill. I have found it most enjoyable. I apologize for any grammatical or spelling errors. My iPad hates me.
