And I am wondering if those of us who signed up later in the year have an advantage over those who started early, with this particular month (June 2017). When it comes to the 4 X 4 "sudoku" boxes at the bottom of (vi), there is a very obvious shaded box in each of the four 4 X 4 boxes. There is no need to use a torch or anything else that I can see.
UNLESS, you guys (looking at you Craig and Squirrel) found something I have totally missed. Let me know please, cause I admit this has added to my confusion on this particular puzzle. I can’t see any logical step from iii, iv and v to vi. The constellations make no sense and the ciphers don’t give clues to any words on v. I do think that if you follow logical steps and arrive at what appears to be a valid answer but is incorrect, then the puzzle is flawed. There must be some tenuous links in there but I’ve pretty much stopped looking at June. I sent you a pm that may or may not help. I cam pm you the quote from Jack on "solving" it if you like.

June’s the last one I had trouble with like that though....the puzzles get trickier starting from November, but logical sequence is there once you figure it out. (Or maybe my mind’s just been warped the right way for it)

Yeah if you could send something over that would be good, I’ll be happy to see the back of that one and move on.

Which is the symbol of the animal back on iii. To be honest I think that’s a really poor puzzle with too many false leads. In the end it also comes down to one of two answers that are easily determined form a simple sudoku without having to do any of the other pages. The fact that the crown appears above the crow in iii, above the deer in vi and as a separate forename in vii also makes the whole thing very messy.

Having put that messy June issue down I opened July and have already submitted my answer to Jack. I almost hope I’m wrong because it took no longer than the time taken to read through the pages!

July answer confirmed correct. Honestly that’s quite disappointing as it’s not the first issue to be solved so quickly. I hate to sound like I’m complaining but I was hoping for more of a challenge for £7.50 an issue. Jack has kindly offered me a refund which I think I may take him up on. This was a stop gap after all until my C&C arrives.

Can I ask, are you actually stepping through the puzzles (i) to (vii), or reading through them and in the case of July seeing the pattern in (v) and applying that to (vi) and that to (vii) without for example filling in the grid in (iv)?

Guh ... I need a nudge for August vii. I have my two numbers from the fireflies, but dont see how to get more than one letter off the big letter-y grid thing on vii. A teensy nudge please?
Also, interestingly, the two animals from i _weren't_ with the same word for ii, which really threw me. I assume this is a typo/error?

Look underneath the letter you have found from the fireflies.....repeat the process for more! and er....yes they are! you might have the wrong two animals, if you PM me I'll check it out further?

I'm semi-stuck on the July issue. I was able to proceed without complete stage (iv) and jumped directly to (v) and then on to the solution. Before I send my solution off to Jack, can someone verify that I'm not on a wrong track?

Needing help on Aug 2017. I'm fairly certain I'm good up to iv. I may be right on v. But I see no connection at all between v and vi.

Needing help on Aug 2017. I'm fairly certain I'm good up to iv. I may be right on v. But I see no connection at all between v and vi. My copy is nearly impossible to read in this light, but the The poem in v provides keywords to point to a couple of things in vi. Then to get to vii Have you noticed anything odd in the corners this issue?
