Finally received both the second and third mailings today ... moments ago. After opening everything (including the Seance addition), it appears they've certainly given us enough material! Lots 'o goodies! About the poster of the magician I can say (having seen hundreds of real magic posters as part of my line of work) that the wording at the top is extraordinarily odd. It's so odd that it makes me suspicious that it has some other meaning or is a code. I mean, "The Surreptitious Butminsterian Contortionist"? That's not English. I was more than a little perplexed by that one too. I grew up in an atmosphere filled with carnies and magicians, since my best friend's family owned and operated a traveling sideshow, and I used to travel with them over summers. Many nights I would stare up at their rec room ceiling, as it had been papered completely with colorful and historic magic posters, which is why at first I thought I might be giving it too much of a critical eye. But then I applied my background as an English major, and I also found something odd and amiss. Goodyear's countenance also has a very "weary" expression about it, almost as if something critical is being drained from him. His appearance simply doesn't strike me as the commanding and mesmerizing countenance of a master magician.

Someone here has made a very good guess as to what the artifact might be. I won't repeat it , however those who received the Seance Add On might note that this item appears innocuously on the back of an included newspaper clipping.

Sorry to be late to the party, but I just received mailing 3 late this afternoon. I paid for the seance addition and I am glad I did. My spirit photograph, featuring two of my lovely cats, could not be more perfect. The cats are visible and I can easily tell them apart. They also look as if they as fascinated by the seance itself. Whichever individual or group of individuals who worked on this for me deserves serious kudos. I am very very pleased.

I'd love to see the cats, if you would be willing to share! That was such a clever idea to use them!

The cats in the photo sounds great. Any thoughts as to the symbol on the back of the poster?

I received mine today. Was rather surprised at just how many items were packaged in there. Easily the largest number of ephemera in any mailing of any experience yet. Too much to process, as I still haven't had a chance to go over the previous two mailings.
I also went for the Seance add-on. I'm glad I did as it appeals to my sensibilities. I hosted a "Authentic Victorian Seance" event at a local-ish Steampunk convention a few years back. Having done research back then, I'm rather pleased to see some similar details appearing in these items.

Although I didn't go over the items in great detail, the one you're referring to caught my eye as well. I had similar thoughts.

My two cats Little Bit and Little Miss in the spirit photo. OK, that's great work by the MPC. If I had gone for The Seance, I would have used my Corgi.
