Membership kits are now available on the MPC website! Huzzah! It looks like they are offering 3 levels of kit: Membership, Inner Circle, and Collector's kit.

How wrong is it that I feel much more alive now after ordering this than a couple of minutes ago?

I can't help but wonder if the early release of these is due to the large number of people unhappy with recent experiences.

I can't help but wonder if the early release of these is due to the large number of people unhappy with recent experiences. I'm more inclined it's due to the fact that they missed Christmas delivery last year, so they're allowing more production time.

At the moment they're promising to mail in November. If we readjust to their real schedule, that should mean a December mailing. Since they are mailing out of the US now, that cuts about two weeks off delivery time. If you're in a country beside the US or Canada, good luck!

I must correct the earlier date given. My account now shows that "The 1st mailing is estimated to ship around October 22, 2016" for the "Madness in the Library Collector's Kit."
I think there will only be one mailing, but they seem to have boilerplate text that automatically fills in as "The 1st mailing ..."

Frankly, these are things -- even customized -- that can be created in high quality and distributed in weeks, if not days. Not sure why they would need five months. That is a lovely t-shirt, though.

Well, last year the challenge coins - which were manufactured by a third Party - were delivered late and caused the Company to miss their shipping date. I suppose they decided to err on the side of caution this time around. If we assume they start manufacturing and packing the items, and place the order for the shirts, challenge coins and likely the Pins, if not most of the other items as well, when orders close on August 27th, that gives them less then two months to get everything ready, and the early shipping date would allow for a delivery before Christmas even if shipping has to be delayed. All in all not unreasonable, given their resolution to reduce delays in the future. As an aside, I do not get to wear suits often, but I would wear Mysterious Package Company cufflinks. Cufflinks would be a great idea for a future membership kit.

Cufflinks would be a great idea for a future membership kit. Two months from Aug. 27 would give them a Halloween arrival time rather than a Christmas one. Let's just see they have set the bar very low for any kind of timeliness and I hope that this time, for the sake of those who indulge, that they manage to step over it for once.

I would guess that everything in the membership kits, no matter what level (and unless it's some small printed item), is made in China. Having done business with vendors in China, generally things are too heavy and thus too expensive to send by airmail. That means everything is shipped by boat, which takes a month, and then have to go through customs, which can hold things for 1 to 3 weeks depending on the whim of the day.
It's easy to see how things could very easily go off the rails and get delayed. I'm sure that the MPC has now factored in a potential delay.

I play once a month in a LARP and I would totally love the idea of MPC cufflinks. I could alternate them with my TARDIS ones. I think I ordered the Collector's Kit immediately upon receiving the email, which based on the timing was about 15 minutes after it was sent. I'm such a sucker for MPC loot. lol
