The fact that MPC almost invariably overshoots estimated ship dates by a month or more is not contested. I frequently warn new members to expect delays. How that impacts your satisfaction with their product is subjective. Has that always been the case, or is that something that began after the Kickstarter? Late shipments pre-date the Century Beast kickstarter. My pre-ordered Weeping Book shipped about a month past estimate. The issues of Curios & Conundrums I received as a subscriber through the end of Volume 2 were all two to six weeks late. In fact, the only new product I've known MPC to ship on time have been the two Volumes 3 issues of Curios & Conundrums. While it does seem to be a trend that is improving, frankly I still anticipate that estimated ship dates are going to be overshot by a month.

This year will be my first shot at ordering a Membership Kit, and I'm debating which version to buy into.
It's my impression that there really isn't much involved beyond the surface value of the items (ie: no puzzles or mysteries to solve). Is that the case?
I'm just not sure if I want to spend the extra money for a few extra coins if they're nothing more than a cool oddity to have.

It's just another collectible, which I admit to having ordered. I like the pile of wooden crates accumulating in my home.

I enjoyed opening the crate and the coins have heft to them, but there really is no extended value in having them. So, it really depends on how much value you put into a few moments of joy. The lasting result is, as you say, nothing more - or less - than "a cool oddity to have" with nothing "beyond the surface value of the items." I think the best thing in this version is the T-shirt, which is a much nicer shirt design than last year's.

New email this morning from The Curator detailing the contents of all the kits (don't think it had any information that is not on the site).

As an aside, I do not get to wear suits often, but I would wear Mysterious Package Company cufflinks. Cufflinks would be a great idea for a future membership kit. Fastest way to ensure I don't buy it. Wtf would I do with cufflinks? Gauge your ears to wear them as thick earrings?

They're simply collectibles, not items to be seen as "useful." That's my 2 cents. Can we name anything we've received from the MPC as genuinely useful? The nit picker. Or so I'm told... *scratches head*

I hate to admit this, but as a new member this year I've found the inefficiency of the mailings only adds to my anticipation and ultimate excitement when something finally does arrive. Being from the Detroit area it's especially frustrating to know that the MPC headquarters are only an afternoon's drive away.

To date, there have been no puzzles in the membership kits that we are aware of. In 2015, I was led to believe there would be something helpful (? I remember thinking it would be an extra hint re: C&C) in the IC Kit. It must have been something in the description on the site because I don't see it in the emails from last year. Or it could have been entirely in my imagination?? Or maybe I just didn't 'get it'? I wish the kits were a little more customizable. I don't have much use for the t-shirts, but I'd happily take more of the other bits, even if I had to pay slightly more for add-ons. My son is quite enamored with the challenge coins in particular. I didn't want to order 2 kits, though, as he neither wants nor needs the other items (I'm already giving him my t-shirt). I know that making the coins overly available lessens their exclusivity/perceived value, but it would be nice to have the ability to add just one more standard-issue coin to the kit (one for him and all the rest for me, mwahahaha!).

I've gotten great use out of my King in Yellow pendant as well as the one that came as an add on to the Century Beast.
Aside from costuming though, I think that anyone looking for "practical" items is searching in the wrong place. The nit picker and the absinthe spoon are the only two notable exceptions that come to mind, but even those have limited use for most people.
I'm the type that's happy to collect oddities for their own sake. That's why I ordered the Membership Kit within five minutes of receiving the initial email.

To clear up any confusion, by "practical" I meant that they were to be used in the effort of solving C&C puzzles or something similar. I'm not looking for them to send me a blender or anything.
