I've really been trying to avoid backing Hastur, as I don't fully trust the MPC any more. Buuuuut...those last two e-mails/videos they've put out have me really re-thinking my decision. They're pretty good, and are actually setting up a potentially interesting story line for this experience.

Essentially, I believe that all of the artifacts have been "outsourced." In other words, it's hard for me to believe the MPC was set up to make large resin statuary, and likely contracted with a company in China to do the production. Why would the statue in Cthulu be defined differently?

Wow, am I glad I started this line of inquiry on the KS page or what! I'm glad to see that at least we weren't deleted and got, somewhat, what looks like honest answers to our concerns regarding the campaign.

Why would the statue in Cthulu be defined differently? My understanding is that, Pre-Kapalka, and likely for a while afterward, the resin artifacts were designed, cast, and painted internally. Some printing was probably outsourced, like the Weeping Book, but then aged in house.

Todd: really? Impressive. That would account for the high and consistent quality, but it seems like it might not have been the best way to run the business from a financial perspective.

I'm so undecided about this. I don't want to get my hopes up, but I really liked The King in Yellow and Carcosa.

They are both great experiences, and related (obviously). I cannot imagine how this new experience can be unrelated since the title tells us plenty.

Just a point of fact wrt 'they didn't delete my comments' on the current Kickstarter comments page: It's not some kind of noblesse, no one can delete comments to a Kickstarter page once they're posted, not even the person who posted the comment.

It’s definitely looking like this one is going to fall short of the funding the other two had. Even with a last minute push. Hastur is at $150,000 Ca, filigree ended at $606,000 Ca, and century beast at $422,000 Ca

I am SO not interested in this.
The less than minimal information on the KS page shows either disdain for the backers, or a built in escape hatch to scale back or not deliver elements of the project, or both. Its very easy to claim 'added levels of interactivity' if you give zero details about what you mean. Reading a piece of paper qualifies as being 'interactive'.
Also, KIY AGAIN? Someone really needs to tell them that there's other horror books in the world.

I was looking at the trailer today and had flashbacks of the movie Wild Hunt. Then I tried to get any meaningful information but alas there wasn't much. And of course they still kept their restricted shipping bs, so I couldn't even back it anyway. This used to be such a great company once but now I just don't get their decisions...

I'm of two minds about this. On one hand, the mystery of the product harkens back to the MPC of old and is in such stark contrast to their current business model that it intrigues me a bit. It's also "cheap" compared to their other Kickstarters to the point that it just feels like purchasing one of their new Experiences as opposed to backing something "epic" in scope like say Century Beast. Also, their last several products have been shockingly good both in presentation and in artifact quality (I legitimately love both the Dragon Tooth and the Cthulhu statue and think they compare very favorably to the original wave of Artifacts), so they're on an upward trend.
On the other hand, the complete lack of info definitely goes too far and it's been rightly backfiring on them in regards to how much they're raising. Also, as has been said here, going back to KiY once again is just silly and somewhat of a slap in the face to long-time fans (it's notable to me that both King in Yellow and Rise of the Cult are no longer for sale, as if they're trying to pretend that this is an original idea for newcomers to the company).
I'm cautiously optimistic but I'm also prepared to be underwhelmed, especially after my experience with Filigree. I'm in a strange place here where I'm fine with backing it but also wouldn't recommend that any of my friends back it. We'll just have to see what happens.

I think we can say it's for the new and ignorant, or the old and faithful. Like you, after the pleasant surprises of both Cthulu and the Tooth, I took the plunge.

OK. The Update 6 in the Kickstarter showed a video--- nevermind. The puzzle was simple. I was just totally overthinking it.

The only thing that has me a little bit butterfly-in-the-belly-ish is that per what they claimed in one answer in the comments feed, Hastur may only be a 2 mailing Experience. Not sure how deep it can go in only 2 mailings.
