Another questions... how have people received their refund? Check in the mail? Paypal, something else? Was there a confirmation email sent out to you ahead of time? Thanks in advance!

They offered to send me a check "in a few days" or refund immediately to my PayPal account. I opted for the latter but then the fee was charged to me, which was annoying. But it came that same day. Interesting that so many people are now opting for refunds. I wonder how/if they feel that everyone is losing total confidence in this entire operation. It was set up with such lofty goals and they were a bit "taken aback" when we first started to question their abilities (after several months, not two years). I still remember the "WE ARE PROFESSIONALS!" email we all received... after no communication from them for months. The Armchair Detective Company held such promise in the beginning. But then again so did MPC. Alas...

It’s funny; my wife is an educational therapist who typically works with younger kids, and one of the most prominently displayed books in her home office is a Robert Sabuda book.

I got my refund last night. No emails from them first apologizing or anything. What a disappointment, but not surprised. Went through PayPal and luckily I had no fees transferring it back to my bank account. Looks like I've got Christmas money now!

Is this creating a self-fulfilling prophecy? Assuming they already committed the funding to suppliers, will the act of people requesting refunds due to lack of progress lead to them not having the funds to progress any further? FWIW I'm remaining as a backer because I was so impressed with the quality of Kidnapped Crossworder that I'd love to see the other 2 chests come to fruition. But then I'm used to being a kickstarter backer, and still have projects there that haven't delivered after 4 years.

But I don’t think they’d be offering so many refunds if they knew this these products would be delivered any time soon (if at all). Plus their handling of the entire project has been shoddy. It’s been over two years of Little and poor communication, excuse after excuse, almost indignance toward their backers - and they received over a quarter of a million dollars if i remember. They’ve produced one box of okay quality (it didn’t blow me away). And the launch of the other two seems nowhere in sight.

Also, having backed many a Kickstarter, it’s not common for refunds to be offered during the production process, even after years of waiting. I have one project that I backed I think three or four years ago that I’m realizing is never going to happen, and I’ve never seen the creator offer refunds. But that project was also being made by a single person and it was clear from the beginning that it was a concept and not close to being ready to produce; I expected to wait a year for that one.
I agree with Bill; this whole thing has been remarkably disingenuous and terribly handled. In fact, it’s the first time I’ve asked for a refund for a project like this. A shame since I enjoyed Kidnapped Crossworder quite a lot (and the wooden boxes it came in are beautiful).

This should make all of us feel just dandy. It's a new Kickstarter campaign from Robert Sabuda: /description
Anyone planning to back it? Ahem ...

I especially enjoy the misspelling of Leonardo as Leondardo not just several times in the text, but in their official name on Kickstarter. Also note that there is no contact information of any kind.

On a positive note, this is the mechanism promised in the Starcrossed Scientists box, so at least they've started prototyping this. It might shave a year or two off the delivery time.

Holy cow, I actually got Crossworder in the mail today. I bought it back in January and basically assumed that my money was gone. I guess I will cautiously wait and see if the other two ever appear in the wild. Time for some puzzling!
