On a positive note, this is the mechanism promised in the Starcrossed Scientists box, so at least they've started prototyping this. It might shave a year or two off the delivery time. Thats what I thought - there's some reassurance to be had knowing that they have a working mechanism for the automaton. Maybe it will actually see the light of day at some point.

At some point I must have sent an email to them expressing some negative feelings............because I got a reply today from Robert Sabuda’s sister. Poor woman. Being drafted in to answer emails from people who are trying very hard to NOT express how pissed they are at the length of time this is taking and almost total lack of communication from the creators. I will try to remember to post the email tomorrow (Can’t be done from my iPad because it hates me). But my main takeaway is that her brother plans to have a meeting next week to try to nail some of this down. Of course it appears everyone was off for 1 or 2 weeks for Thanksgiving, and if last year is anything to go by, no one will be around for most of Dec either. Dispair hangs heavily over this project it seems.

Actual email from Wendy Sabuda:
Lucille,
I’m sorry for your frustration with the puzzle cases, Shelby has unfortunately been in the hospital for the last week and a half and she is the only one that puts the cases together.
I am Robert Sabuda’s sister and only trying to answer some emails or look up orders for customers. I don’t want you to think we are ignoring your emails.
If I had the status of the other 2 cases, I would let you know, but I don’t right now I actually live in Michigan and Robert was out of town too for Thanksgiving and we had a huge winter storm where nobody could get back in town on time.
He is having a meeting on Thursday on everything and what we need to do, we might have to get some interns in to help.
We will know more after this week.
Thank you for understanding.
Wendy Sabuda

That sounds horrible and I wish Shelby all the best. However, considering by their own admission they hadnt even started work on the third case, they could have found a way to refund that at least if they really wanted to.

I agree, this does sound horrible, yet... how many years have they had? It seems like this has just become the final excuse for them. I wish her well in getting better, but if they don't have time to produce anything, what "equivalent" items will they give the backers? I for one am glad I was able to get my money fully refunded on the last two cases. Over $300 is a lot of money to just have sitting on vaporware...

I posted this in another thread: I feel very bad for Ms. Arnold. But since when does one person's illness mean the demise of an entire company? They also sold this entire project under Robert Sabuda's reputation. After raising over a quarter of a million dollars, and it's been nothing but drama, delays and backpeddling since the beginning (yes, back in 2016). Fires! Floods! Misdirected ships from China! Now this...
