Is there a reason we aren't just posting our findings, whether they are helpful or not? As someone not in a library area, I'd be interested in seeing how this pans out instead of waiting for a "ta-da" moment when it's all assembled. But maybe that's just me. Might also give other people some idea of what to look for.

My guess is probably a lock symbol that coordinates to a phoneme, but could be more. Would be fun if it went somewhere else.

The basic takeaway is that there was an idea floated around here a long time ago that turned out to be pretty much exactly right. Ahem 😀

Ahem 😀 I thought I was going to be doing a bigger and more detailed post than I did where I was going to say this, but yes, phraca’s idea was 100% correct. Well done sir.

Ok, as requested, here's what the symbol for Child of the Cavern looks like:

Well done.
I'm glad to see it's finally been solved properly. Just slightly under a year later. It could have required a wide group of people to figure out, which is admirable.

Brilliant! Kudos to phraca for thinking of this solution way back. Too bad we, as a community, did not find a way to visit local libraries before now. I feel disappointed in myself that I did not take the time to drive 90 minutes to the Toronto library. Cheers to MPC for another fiendish puzzle. It is unfortunate that they have decided to stop producing this puzzling periodical after 4 (it is hard to include 2017) years.

I'm close enough to the Folger Shakespeare Library/Congress (DC) to make a visit. What do we make of the fact that all the libraries are in North America but one? Maybe there is something special about that one? I looked into that book at the Library of Congress. As I recall, it is stored offsite and you need to make a request to have the book pulled. I would suggest planning ahead and making the request online before going.

Edmonton was the symbol for z/cerebritises/3.1 horoscopes. A picture wasn't acquired. My friend will try to go back to get one if he has another chance.

Well done. I'm glad to see it's finally been solved properly. Just slightly under a year later. It could have required a wide group of people to figure out, which is admirable. Yes, we now know what was done for the specific items in the specific locations (trying to be vague on purpose), but how does that translate to the eventual solution? (Did I miss that posting awhile back?) Now, imagine the logistics of searching out these particular locations, as well as the transportation required to complete the task at hand? Impressive, Mr. Mole.

Take the four symbols, find their phonemes, and it (likely) would spell [removed by Admin] or similar. A word that unfortunately could also be found the way we did. With the number of letters missing, we may not have come to the same conclusion. But alas, we did.

As I probably stated before, I'd have thought that the misstep of the Bridge Letter would have been sufficient to dissuade MPC from doing another puzzle that required going to a physical location.

Well, I don’t have the ability to post this now, but I have a photo confirming that at least one of the pieces of paper survived! The Burbank Central Library copy of At The Mountains of Madness had the piece of paper in it. I’ll post the photo in a couple of hours.
Let’s try to solve this right. Anyone able to get to any of the libraries in the first and third list?

I wouldn't say it wasn't solved "right" or "properly". It wasn't solved as planned by MPC... but it was solved using alternate clues from the papers that were a guide to the correct word. It is definitely nice to know the solution as designed by MPC though because I always felt there was something missed.
