I was having some doubts about where the final 15-letter word fit in (if mine is correct) so I did some research. The cinematographer for One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest , the only film in the puzzle, was Haskell Wexler One of his other works was The Secret of Roan Inish a film about a selkie I'm not suggesting this is all there is to the puzzle, but I gather there are no coincidences when it comes to Curios and Conundrums.

Thanks for the help! I finally solved them and received the secret word. As to the thought about the cinematographer for One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest I thought about it too and learned that Haskell was fired and Bill Butler took over and finished the project. Regardless, it's probably a red herring or a path needn't taken.

There are variations of the BASTB solution. Is there another B that a BA can S?

I'm not sure how to Spoiler tag on mobile but.. I wanted to make sure I wasn't the only one who has 2 final words.. The one that's been discussed and another which, at least in this issue, seems to fit as well.. It is of the mega-bat variety... (Again, sorry I can't spoiler tag, feel free to delete this if necessary!)

There are variations of the BASTB solution. Is there another B that a BA can S? I think that this confusion was mentioned earlier? I believe there are two versions of this saying; in one, 'B' refers to a physical container for the 'A's; in the other, 'B' is a collective noun for the 'A's. Hopefully this is helpful. I believe it was mentioned that this is a difference in US/UK expressions.

Hi! It's my first time getting C&C, and my first time at this forum. I couldn't find a thread with this information, but please point me in the right direction if I missed it.
I am generally pretty good at crossword puzzles. I do the NYTimes puzzle daily. But this puzzle breaks all the rules I'm used to, and I am just STUCK on some of the squares. I can't figure out a pattern to the italicized clues, or to the clues that seem to be nonsense word combinations.
I also have no idea what the "Short n Sweet" means. I've never seen a puzzle like that before. Can anyone help? I feel like a dunce.
Thanks!
~ff~

Keep in mind, this is not traditional puzzle solving, as I have recently come to understand!

For example, you are in the short and sweet thread, just go back and start from page one!

Sorry, gang. The helpful moderator moved my above post... I didn't realize you had to sign up to see the whole forum, so I put it in "General" originally.
I have all the answers for Short n Sweet now... but I'm seeing from you all something about a 15-letter word? And I have NO IDEA where I'm supposed to be looking for that. Or what the dots underneath the letters mean. Will reread this thread to look for explanations.

I am stuck on MTIAMT! Any clues out there! I heard of an artist that takes discarded items, creates artworks from them, and then sells them for exorbitant prices.
