Me too, since it was pretty irresistible.

I am interested to hear how it goes! I can't help but be skeptical that mysteries pumped out every month can be made with the same level of care as MPC, but maybe. It could also just be my loyalty bias haha

I actually thought the monthly thing would be newsletter-ish and involving puzzlements and bits and snatches of things, more along the lines of C&C than full-blown mysteries in and of themselves.
The 4-mailing experiences they offer also look interesting -- plus their facebook page says they have three new ones slated for 2016.

Trying to determine if each monthly mystery is it's own self contained puzzle or if you need multiple months to get anywhere. I have a few friends with birthdays coming up and a 20 dollar mystery package is about right, but I don't want to give a partial gift.

Why not write to them and ask? I found out that the cut-off for the February issue is February 18, which is when they stop mailing them out, so we can let you know in a week or so.

Great, please do! The first birthday I am thinking of is in April so I have time to wait.
Appreciate the review!

Curious about the similarities between one of the Experiences and Mr. X's novel of the same name. Is it a rehash, a sequel or...? If anyone ends up ordering one, do post a review.

Have you read any of his novels?

Have you read any of his novels? Nope, but a search on the pull quotes listed on the site easily offers up the titles and his true identity so I noted the concordance of titles and wondered what the relationship might be. Have you?

Not yet. I have a copy of The Genesis Code on order, and it seems to be related to the current Order of Arcanum game that's running now. We'll see soon.

Looks like they're doing a complicated marketing thing whereby if you go to the Cratejoy website, you can buy into the physical mailings and if you go to www.arcanumonline.com/contact-us.html you can just opt into the (free) online only version for a limited time. It's complicated marketing, but not in the way you think it is. The online story, Arcanum, is a story based on a company called Archon Genomics. Arcanum is definitely not an online version of their monthly subscription mailings, Nevermore, which are based on Poe. They're two completely different things. It's probably worth playing around with Arcanum, the price is certainly right. But keep in mind that Arcanum has absolutely nothing to do with their monthly subscriptions or their 4-mailing experiences.
