I received a response and it's definitely softcover:
"This is a soft cover book but it has been crafted with elements that are in line with the story that we at MPC are trying to tell."
I'm thinking about taking one for the team but the 40% off CURIOUS40 promo isn't eligible for this curiosity.
I suspect it's saddle stitched with wire staples like the Century Beast coloring book (a $20 past offering), more like a booklet than a book. "Well-loved by its original owner" sounds like it's worn and weathered but that could be partly printed like the paper artifacts of Filigree in Shadow. The MPC includes this book with the $149.99 King in Yellow All-in-One experience so I don't expect it to be much more than this. I'd love to be proven wrong, though.
I have no idea why, but I'm leaning towards purchasing this. It's "only" thirty dollars including shipping, and I both wouldn't mind owning the stories and having something else related to the KiY experience, which remains my favorite of the MPC's. However, if someone else wants to, as rob so eloquently put it, "take one for the team," I'd be grateful.
Book arrived today. Wrapped in brown paper and string, it smells like peanuts. Probably the print-on-demand ink.
It's a small paperback that's been well distressed.
There are symbols in red ink, which are supposed to look like someone wrote in your copy in red marker, spread sporadically throughout the book. Just a guess, perhaps two dozen. If I get a minute, I'll post some photos.
Good for the price, even without the business with the symbols.
diggitydoodog: I've had dubious documents for 2 years now and finally went to work on it. Would anyone on here be willing to PM me the answer or post it in a spoiler so I can check the solution?
