Just got this and loving it! 16 beautifully illustrated envelopes with 16 equally beautiful documents inside. Each one has a puzzle that leads to a word. Gather the 16 words to form a message.
My only warning is this, if you are a die hard puzzler you may find it quite easy. I have been pacing myself since I got it yesterday evening and I am almost done.

Oooh, this looks right up my alley. Now I wait for Amazon Prime to work its magic.

Oof, this is embarrassing. I've been translating French and Italian but can't find anything that looks like a puzzle in here. I must be losing my touch.

Just received Dubious Documents for Christmas. Must say, I am a bit confused. I figured out the first envelope but only based on the clue. I don't want to move on until I understand the real way to find the answer as the clue was no fun and knowing the right thing to do will help in the future. So, is there a proper way to solve envelope one, and if so, could I get a hint?

There doesn't seem to be any intention of being able to work out each word without the clue - also the clues are front and centre rather than hidden at the back to be used in case of emergency...

That is a shame. The first clue used only 5% of what was even on the paper inside the envelope and everything else had nothing to do with it. Plus there was no way to know the info from just trying to puzzle out the envelope and paper. "Clue" is a rather poor term for them to use as it is unsolvable without it, unless there are other people who have seen otherwise? Hoping that is the case...

Hate to say it, it doesn't get any better from there. Nothing is really left to chance - look at the back of the book if you haven't already, that also tells you which order the words go in and how long each should be. I really think this is designed to be puzzling-light for all the family to look through together (well kids to do and parents to help out if they get stuck). Nice art and concepts, but yes, 5% of each letter at most is meaningful.

I got this for my daughter for Christmas, and just got a look at it . Agree that the solution was pretty simple, but what about the statement at the end of the book:
"If Einstein was right and time flows both ways, then a solution might be elsewhere"
I have a few thoughts, but haven't got anywhere.

When I reorder the words into the order given in the back of the book, they make no sense?

So you think there might be another solution that is more puzzle intense?

When I reorder the words into the order given in the back of the book, they make no sense? The first word when rearranged should be EQUALITY

The first word when rearranged should be EQUALITY Although the back of book says seven letters and interesting the L is in red rather than black as per the other letters, but EQUAITY doesn't make sense as an answer

Thanks, for some reason I'd got them in completely the wrong order! Anyone have any thoughts on there being a deeper meta puzzle? As previously mentioned, the last page has the message "if Einstein was right and time flows both ways, then a solution might be elsewhere". The image on the page is also on the 2nd envelope, which contains a map of south america, which appears to have something barely legible written in red around Cusco in Peru? Or is that the envelope with the matching image, also has the phrase Found by a hobgobblin Which is repeated on the contents of Envelope 14 Does this lead anywhere?

Did you all know that once you find the answer, there's a competition you can enter to win original art, signed prints and sets of books? Me either, but I found it on the publishers website and its still open until the end of the month. Enter here - dubiousdocuments.chroniclebooks.com/
