Wow, quite disappointingly I have the final answer to 0.2 literally within 2 minutes of opening the envelope and flicking through to see what was in it! Amazing - and Jack has confirmed that that is the right answer? How did you know what symbol was relevant in (vi) from a single look - as all four symbols decode to valid sentences, but only one of the four valid sentences is correct?

Amazing - and Jack has confirmed that that is the right answer? How did you know what symbol was relevant in (vi) from a single look - as all four symbols decode to valid sentences, but only one of the four valid sentences is correct? I don’t know, I just glanced at vi and understood how to solve it. As it happened the correct sentence was the first I solved but I have the others too. Once you have solved vi it’s easy to back solve the others. To be honest, once I’d done that with 0.2 I realised I could easily have done the same with 0.1 but worked through it in order. In future I’ll be looking page by page instead of seeing what’s ahead. Edit: answer confirmed by Jack, who is curious how I solved it so quickly!

question about April 2017 (I've already asked Jack and am embarrassed to admit to him I still need help) I have: Listen to the first, second, fourteenth and last words only. (Jack fixed my spacing)
But that gives me: In the rushing city walls passage fall water.
which makes no sense to me, and doesn't seem to fit with March 2017 either. (Which I have verified i have correct.)
Help??

Helloooo. Could do with a clue please for May 2017. So... I think the clue is "right" and that gives me "blind your eyes and listen well" from page ii.
Looking at the 8 words I get something like:
Shot Quay Synth Ways Tan Dent Star Shove?
Which I think sounds out a sentence something like "Show keys in the way and enter..." Not sure if I have all the words right but this doesn't quite fit.
Looking at the keys on the next page gives "cut and rearrange" which if I do that to page v gives a picture frame with X>Circle>V and V>Hourglass>X and symbols in the four corners.
This is where I come unstuck. I see the symbols on page vi are either the circle or the hourglass with number 1 to 8. Not sure if the numbers somehow relate to the words 1-8, or if i perhaps have to do something with the image of the keys and overlay them on the rearranged picture frame. Or perhaps I have to also "fold and flip" or "choose and cover" if one of my earlier steps isn't right.
Then the final page I'm having to pick letter to fit the dashes at the bottom of the page. Almost certainly the phrase starts with "it" as the first three lines do. And possibly the line ends with Death to rhyme with Breath.
So best guess, and that's all it is at this stage is "It lives on to death" Where have I gone wrong or what link am I missing?

Remember it's written by a Brit. ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) And I know your final sentence has only one word wrong. A small word.

Lots of people get stuck on the numbers - so you're not alone.
You now have sequences showing how the circle and hourglass relate to X and V. What are X and V?

You now have sequences showing how the circle and hourglass relate to X and V. What are X and V? Still not there yet So "It lives on in death" makes more sense.
But still not finding the number link or working out what X and V could be. I think the answers to vi are probably coordinates to look up in the grid on vii, but that's not giving me any clues either.

Consider the page numbers.... ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png) I must be missing something obvious: I already looked at roman numerals for the X and V, V being 5 and X 10, X being double V and V being half of X. That's not lead me anywhere.
I also noted that adding up the single digits of the numbers, if the number is 7 or less then the hourglass is used, if 8 or more then the circle is used.
I think the answer has to be another number, rather than a lookup (1st word 2nd letter for example).
If the first word is IT, then the coordinates are 1,2 and 1,4. But I can't see a pattern that gets me from 12 > 1,2 that also gets me from 22 > 1,4. I think you have to use the whole number rather than single digits because otherwise the 6 and 7 wouldn't fit a single digit pattern.
I've explored various things as you can see but it's still not jumping out at me.

What an idiot, I had the answer to start with but was working from top left on the grid and not bottom left as normal convention n. Solved. Would have got there myself without the stupidity, but thanks for the pointers!

I could use a hint for the final bit (vi/vii) of 0.3 (May). I've figured out that the two symbols from (v) are operations and applied them to all the numbers on (vi), but I don't understand how they can work as coordinates for (vii). Some of the digits are greater than 4.

And I just figured out my mistake. I was using a valid, but incorrect, mathematical operation.
