And considering the contents of the crate, it could very well still be a deal

As I recall shipping has always been in the $20-$25 dollar range. I don't think that is new. I stand corrected. Thank you! Searching for coffee. as someone from overseas - I would kill to only pay 25$ in shipping. it's usually 50$+ just in shipping for me

I know that this has been mentioned in other threads, but does anyone else have a feeling that a massive sale like this does not bode well for the future of MPC, or do you think that they are clearing out inventory (and raising capital) for future products?

I have reservations about the solvency of MPC. But it's purely speculation. The fact that they seem to be "right-sizing" instead of launching another Kickstarter would seem to be a smart move from a business perspective. Alienating long-term customers by ruining and then discontinuing the product that has earned them a cult following perhaps not so much.
Ultimately, they have a right to run their business as they see fit. And we each have a right to make up our own minds as to whether or not to patronize them. MPC will always have fans, and they will always have a home here in this forum.

Interesting note. If you use the CrushThem14 discount from the email. The email says that it is a discount on anything on their website. What the email doesn't say is that it can only be used once. So MPC makes you do separate orders if they are going to different addresses. If you want to make two separate purchases (one to buy an experience for yourself and one to buy an experience for someone else) and get the discount for both orders...you CAN'T. Once you use the discount code, it will not allow you to use it again. So MPC should have put a disclaimer their email that the discount is only good for one order. They did not.

With the additional $14 off, I purchased KiY. I am weak...
But, excited! Many of you say it is your fave experience.

I decided to go in for the King in Yellow (which I've always wanted, but none of my friends or relatives picked up on my overt hints), and Tempus Fugit, since they are both on sale. The Century Beast is also heavily discounted, but I already bought it for myself last year. I'm a little concerned that they are going to retire some of these discounted experiences like they did Under the Ceiba Tree, so it seems like now is the time to get them. The artifact for Tempus Fugit seems a bit harder to display than the others -- do those of you who have received that experience still like the story?

Yes, despite my vow not to buy from MPC again, I also caved in and bought King in Yellow. At $100 off, plus an additional 14% off, it was too good to pass up. I believe it was the first mass market Experience they ever put out (unless one of the Bespoke experiences was mass marketed). It has always received good reviews too. It has been on my wish list for a long time and I just couldn't resist.

I caved and bought KiY though for a friend, not myself. Hopefully he lets me look over the material though.

There seem to be very differing camps when it comes to Tempus Fugit. Except for the second mailing, which is legitimately great and has a fun light puzzle, I find Tempus Fugit the weakest of the MPC Experiences given the vague ending and an artifact that while unique is difficult to display fully. King in Yellow has everything that I want out of one of these Experiences; a tight narrative, an easy to display Artifact that gets asked about a lot (Tempus Fugit's artifact has never been commented on by any of my friends or guests), and some very cool ephemera. King in Yellow also has a bonus of being directly based on a short story, and I think it does a great job of expanding on that story while remaining true to its feel. Of course to each their own, but for my personal taste it's not remotely close between King in Yellow and Tempus Fugit in terms of what I would recommend.
