I half expected a piece of scrimshaw at the end of John Augur, so was not greatly surprised by that.

I hope they get the smell right, then. Accounts by the guests of 19th century private collectors always tend to go on about the scent.
This would be so delightfully macabre.

I still assert that this will be a fulfillment of the pyramid drawings "seen" in one of the offices of a certain online adventure you may be familiar with.

Two intriguing developments. One is the promotional email from this morning that seems to say that we'll hear about the new Experiences next Friday. Two is that they've redesigned the Experiences page. Nothing major, but I've been involved with the MPC for over a year now and have never seen the Experience page change format before.

not sure they will issue next week...as they reference the "Dread Holidays" too. My guess is we will get another promotional email on the 21st with more details about another one of the releases like this one.

On 9/29 we were promised that "something eerie is in progress and shall be announced within a fortnight". Based on that we were expecting an announcement by Friday, October 13.
All we were told yesterday was "I can reveal that before the Orionids first flash across the sky, you will be privy to the news yourself". The Orionids will peak between October 20 and 22.
Perhaps the delay of the Filigree crate has changed the timing of the announcement. Or perhaps we should just chalk it up as another missed target date by MPC. Long term members are no stranger to those.

The longer they delay their announcement, the longer I get to keep my money in my wallet.

Looks like my wallet is going to take a hit on Wednesday!!! They may have moved the timetable up slightly because of the newest Hunt A Killer premium experience being released (or at least being available for pre-ordering) on Wednesday. This of course means that my bank account will now get terrifyingly low on Wednesday (appropriate for October, for sure).

I'm not as willing as some to assume MPC will get any of my money with these new announcements. Curios & Conundrums is shaping up to be a major disappointment this year, and the Filigree in Shadow story hasn't yet been able to overcome the "fake" sheen of the artifacts for me. I've never been as disillusioned by MPC as I am right now.
A Membership Kit would have been a sure buy. And if one of these new experiences is being marketed as a four-issue quarterly Puzzle extravaganza in the vein of the old school Curios & Conundrums, you can count me in. Otherwise, I'm going to be a tough sell.

I will confess that I'm a bit hesitant myself, as I decided to imitate clemtownkernel and buy myself a house the other day, and the added expenses of brand new home ownership on top of three new Experiences is probably going to be a bit much for my bank account (seriously, I cannot believe the amount of paperwork and initial expenses that go into buying a house). Also, I was very much hoping to have the Artifact from Filigree by now in order to help me make my decision, as like Todd, I've been lukewarm regarding Filigree and am hoping that its so-so writing and general lowish quality items are not indicative of what's to come from these new Experiences. I also agree with Todd that C&C has been very disappointing so far this year, especially Brain Butchers, which I've said several times here is by far my least favorite C&C issue of all of them. Their track record so far this year has not been good.
Still, I own every other MPC Experience, and if I can survive the onslaught of forms and costs associated with the new house (which of course I'm moving into right after these Experiences are announced), it would feel weird to not continue my collection of esoterica and Artifacts from them. The fact that I'm even debating not buying the Experiences is alarming to me.

I had planned on buying Filigree as soon as it becomes available, but seeing the feedback on it, may not bother I'm going to purchase the Egyptian themed experience if the price is not too high. I enjoy the experiences, but C&C is my "must have". However, with Volume IV...it is falling out of favor too. Right now On the Run by Dispatch is my favorite.
