I was contacted a while back about being interviewed by phone by the MPC. The call came this evening. It lasted an hour and went into extreme detail. My takeaway (that I can speak about) is that they read this board. They understand your concerns. They want to address them. Because I am not a puzzle solver, my input regarding C&C was only to communicate how happy people used to be, and how unhappy they are now. The longer part of my conversation dealt in detail with the Experiences; what worked and what didn't (in my opinion). And ... something wonderful is coming.

Dear God, my heater needs repair. Now I will also have to set aside a few hundred dollars for "something wonderful", which honestly I expected something for Christmas. Thanks for the news thegenii !

This is great-sounding news, but this is also where their whole mysterious and anonymous philosophy really hurts them in my book. They are I'm sure losing customers (they're close to losing me) because of frustrations that have already been discussed in great detail here, and to respond to those frustrations with "wait and see" or "we hear you" and then provide no concrete details really makes me feel uneasy. Consider that "wait and see" with C&C likely means spending at least $70 in the US, and possibly more like $105 if there's going to be a big change next year as opposed to this year, for a product that many of us are unsatisfied with, and to just do that on faith alone, with no clear reassurance that things will change.
I told the MPC recently that the direction that they're going in makes them feel less like a mysterious company and more like a better than average subscription box company that produces entertaining, odd, and expensive premium things a couple of times a year. It's great to create a mystique and invite people to join in and all pretend that we're all members of this secret society, but to then take that mystique to a level of being obtuse and vague with customers who are dissatisfied strikes me as overkill.
I want the MPC to succeed, and I want to continue my subscription to C&C; it's brought me so much joy and got me involved in this incredible community that I love being a part of. At the same time, I feel like I'm being kept at arm's length by them at exactly the time when they shouldn't be doing such a thing. With other subscription companies that I belong to, while they perhaps don't have the same kind of aura that the MPC does, I often contact the creators/artists behind the product, and with several of the companies, I've developed nice relationships with the creators via e-mail. In those cases, I truly feel like a valued customer and one who is happy to endorse not just the product but the creator behind the product. With the MPC, while I used to endorse them based on the quirkiness of the concept and the high quality of the products, I don't feel that way now based on how this year has gone so far and their vague approach to disgruntled customers, and that truly saddens me.

And ... something wonderful is coming. I shall raid the treasury at once. This is great-sounding news, but this is also where their whole mysterious and anonymous philosophy really hurts them in my book. I must say that I am always willing to give them a measure of leeway because of their rather original approach. While I am certain that at times this makes the individual customer service experience somewhat frustrating, the whole secret society approach has brought me no small measure of delight over the years.

Interesting. I shall keep the hammer ready by the piggy bank and stuff a few extra pennies in for safe keeping.

Well, I'm chomping at the bit waiting to be able to purchase Filigree...and I'm sure that the something "wonderful" is probably another Experience (which is great!)...but I do also hope it means the same for C&C. In the earlier volumes we became part of the story. So far in Vol. 4 we are on the outside, knowing things are happening, but not invited to become part of the action. I'm part of an exclusive membership that seems to be barred from entering the clubhouse.

I just received an email and I'm pretty sure it's in regards to the something wonderful happening. I'm pretty excited to see what they're going to be specifically.

I know, that's a bit overwhelming for my wallet. I would assume that one will be the public unveiling of Filigree like they hinted was coming in an earlier e-mail, so at least a bunch of us won't have to pay for that one again!

Well, after Filigree in Shadow, I will be out of potential recipients - there are one or perhaps two people left who I could picture enjoying this, and maybe I could order another for myself, but three? I was considering ordering The Lost Treasure of John Augur, if only because it drives me up the wall that there is a Challenge Coin I am missing in there. Perhaps I must start selling my blood. Would anyone be in the market for a pint of AB Rh pos?

Can you post the email by any chance. I seem to be hit or miss when it comes to C&C emails, and I haven't gotten any the last few days. Not even telling me FiS2 was shipping.

I'm glad there are new Experiences coming...but I still have a ways to go before I have purchased what they offer now. And the Experiences are all well and good, but what I really want to hear about/know about...is if they are going to bring back the old C&C. Where is THAT email? I want to hear YES or NO...not utter silence or vague responses
