The Second Annual Unofficial Mysterious Package Company Member Meet-up at GenCon is planned for Saturday, August 19. Most likely around lunch time.
If you're a GenCon attendee, this is a great opportunity to meet some of your fellow MPC Members.
If you've never been to GenCon, this is a good opportunity to meet some of your fellow MPC Members and take in the world's largest gaming convention.
Many facets of this are still in motion. Please express preliminary interest in this thread and monitor it for further details.

I noted the above that it is a gaming convention but what happens there? Do people compete in puzzle solving? Are there experiences?

GenCon is an annual gaming convention in Indianapolis, Indiana. It really covers all aspects of gaming, including table-top, card, RPG, board, etc. There is a large vendor's hall where people sell their wares, there are numerous events that include game tournaments, seminars, LARPing, costume contests, etc. Here's a link to the current events listion: www.gencon.com/event_finder/Category?opt[]=ta&opt[]=hh&ag[]=un&ag[]=eo&ag[]=tn&ag[]=ma&ag[]=tw&exp[]=no&exp[]=so&exp[]=ep. This is the 50th Anniversary of GenCon, so it's likely to be the biggest yet. While there is no official MPC sponsored activity at GenCon, nor is there any unofficial MPC event recognized by GenCon, depending on the (so far, terribly sluggish) response, we might concoct a few surprises to spice things up. Last year, a few of us who were attending GenCon anyway got together for lunch. It was a great opportunity for a few of us who had been conversing regularly in the chatroom to speak without a keyboard between us.

I haven't had any interest expressed here. Nevertheless, if you are attending GenCon this Saturday, August 19 and want to meet up for lunch, feel free to PM me and we'll establish more formal plans.
There is currently a small handful of participants.

It was a good time. I inadvertently double-booked myself that day and as such was somewhat rushed. I spent quite a while wandering the vendor's booths and watching a few games get demonstrated here and there. A small handful of MPC C&C Subscribers did a lunchtime meet-up. It was the same small group as last year. Probably the biggest accomplishment was the decision to make Unofficial MPC GenCon Meet-Up T-Shirts. Unfortunately on my way home, a car (I suspect driven by a member of the Society of Zosimos) decided to T-Bone me. Even such a heinous act has failed to dampen my fond memories of the day, though.

I've been going to Origins each year for the past half dozen, but have never made it to GenCon. Considering about possibly going for 2018.
