Did you read the KS update where they mentioned this sort of thing - seems like some stuff got bumped back to other boxes - however, both ciphers in this one are crackable, the second one is muchos harder than the first and I'm still working through it but made a breakthrough last night and hope to continue cracking tonight.

Yeah, I only got box #1 through Kickstarter and am on the fence as whether to subscribe. I, too, am fond of the trinkets and other ephemera and online content which feed into the clues. Breakout has spoiled everyone, I believe. This one - at least upon opening the box - has me feeling a bit meh.

Oh yeah, as I said, I know they mentioned the changes, but with the extra I'm paying for international shipping, I'm just not quite sure about value yet. I'm definitely intrigued and am going to keep subscribing month to month for now.

I’m in for the full year, and this has impressed me enough that I’m really happy about that. Just starting in on the codes now (and yeah, the second one looks complicated)

I will (but I’m going to play with them for a bit first) I’ve only seen the two cyphers though - the notes and the telegram. What are you thinking might be a third?

Notes solved. I’m seeing 11 letters in the second code - 10 digits and a space maybe? There’s too many letter pairs to map easily to an alphabet. It’s not evenly laid out in the diary - the rows have different #s of letters. Slightly unreliable narrator there.

Look at the frequent ink blots and splodges throughout - do these fall on specific letters or words that maybe indicate a further code?

Ah yes but have you noticed that Every single letter pairing begins with one of six particular letters, and ends with one of five particular letters. Meaning you could do a 6x5 grid and map 26 letters plus maybe punctuation (space, comma, period, question mark perhaps). If three pairings occur in a couple of places then maybe we have an in on AND or THE?

And more on this some letter pairings don't actually occur, meaning we have 26 or less valid letter pairings....

Yeah me too - are you on the facebook group for discussing this? I had to go back and reread to decide which of the travelling companions was the murderer...
