I have taken it upon myself to break in this new forum section. As much as I would love to create a twenty-step puzzle set with an original story and three branching side pieces of info hidden in them, I'm going to start with a simple riddle (my personal favorite riddle, in fact).
"Mice are famous for their ability to multiply at breakneck speeds. The type of mouse we have here gives birth once a month, birthing 12 babies each time. Baby mice mature and can give birth two months after they are born.
You picked up one of these darling baby mice at the pet shop and brought it home the day after it was born. In 10 months from now, how many mice will you have?"

I am assuming these are ordinary mice otherwise... if so, then you'd have one. (edited to add: But now I've got the Bunny song running through my head. Thanks for that... I think.

Unless it is a very curious sort of mouse, I suspect the answer is one.

Assuming there are no free range mice in the house- you would still have one.

I never said it was a hard riddle, just a fun one I know what you mean... my favorites come from a well known book (now movie) ... The Hobbit... not sure if Tolkien came up with these or not but... ... I thought they were brilliant when I was a kid, though everyone knows them now (my absolute favorites are #3 and #5 in this list): What has roots as nobody sees, Is taller than trees Up, up, up it goes, And yet never grows?
Answer: Mountain Thirty white horses on a red hill, First they champ, Then they stamp, Then they stand still.Answer: Teeth Voiceless it cries, Wingless flutters, Toothless bites, Mouthless mutters. . .Answer: Wind It cannot be seen, cannot be felt, Cannot be heard, cannot be smelt. It lies behind stars and under hills, And empty holes it fills. It comes first and follows after, Ends life, kills laughter.
Answer: Dark A box without hinges, key or lid, Yet golden treasure inside is hid.Answer: Egg Alive without breath, As cold as death; Never thirsty, ever drinking, All in mail never clinkingAnswer: Fish This thing all things devours: Birds, beasts, trees, flowers; Gnaws iron, bites steel; Grinds hard stones to meal; Slays king, ruins town, And beats high mountain down.Answer: Time

The Hobbit is one of my favourite books. I thought these riddles were great but always felt that Bilbo cheated on his last question. I guess Gollum did too.
