Mano Fico (or fig hand) is an ancient obscene gesture. The thumb and fist gesture is an ancient representation of sexual union. The name is from the Italian word for the female vulva, fica, meaning fig (and also the origin of an English obscenity). The fig was associated by the Romans with female fertility and eroticism; the fruit was sacred to Bacchus. The gesture is used against the evil eye in the belief that an obscenity serves as a distraction to evil.
I was actually looking for something else when I discovered this quite by accident on the following website: www.iacmusic.com/symbolspage.html

That was also mentioned in one of the articles, along with the apparent symbolism of the peacock.

It's also the hand signal to rid of the evil eye.

The pendant and the... Nazur - the blue glass with the eye painted on it, are both used as wards against the evil eye, depending on the culture. The Nazur dates back to proto-Mongol peoples and represents Tengri, the Eternal Blue Sky in ancient Tengrism. However, in Turkey, where my girlfriend had just visited, she said the Nazur is a protection against the evil eye, and the hand gesture is akin to the middle finger (to us Yanks).

I don't know about the evil eye but in my culture, it's a PG version of flipping someone off.

Confirming same from my own experience. There is one hanging in my childhood home, received whilst family was visiting Turkey as well.

Find it interesting that both an Evil Eye (the blue glass eye) and the hand pendant were included. Both are kind of the same thing symbolically. As well as the tinfoil hat and paper bag. Clearly we are VERY protected.

As I went to bed and brought the broadsheet to read, I had to laugh when I saw that much of what we're blocking with spoiler space is clearly talked about with regards to the glass item and the pendant. I guess what I knew wasn't so much of a hot bit of info.
