Poking around the website again, looking at source code, gifs etc. I did notice one thing. The gif for the tree branch that appears several times in the background as a spacer is FAR more detailed then you can see on the website. If you pull it up in the source code. gnarlsputrescent.angelfire.com/img/Branch-1.gifAs you can see it has leaves on it, which you really can't see when its on the background. And as an aside, if you google search for various lyric strings, boy do you end up on some weird corners of the internet's byways (wince). The scary part is, they all seem to have nothing to do with the quest, but from the rantings and ravings you'd wonder if they hadn't been touched by something lol

I'm on this one and I am so stuck. I spent ages up a blind alley all about the Blood Moon Prophecy I have been trying to investigate the website etc., but I nothing is jumping out at me. I'm impressed by the attention to detail though. Brought me right back to my heavy metal days.

Apparently the magazine used to be a real one, actually. It might be possible to track down and comtact the editor, if he is still around on the internet.

I've been rooting around on the website, and it seems to be falling apart, with multiple links not working. How can the MPC still be selling this experience and not keep the website fully functioning?

Um, the experience really wasn't functioning in the first place?

I do not believe that the website is supposed to be fully functional - after all, it is about a band that disbanded almost 25 years ago, so it is most likely meant to be a defunct online presence. I went over the website and I am nearly certain that all the links that are not working now have never worked in the first place. For a time I thought that one might be able to reach the defunct parts of the website by fixing those links, but none of them have obvious typing errors in them. On the other hand, the Company are at times a bit tardy when it comes to maintaining the online sections of their Experiences. The tie-in from Tempus Fugit has been showing an error message for quite some time now:
Ramshorn, Gregory & Frum
However, in the case of GNARLSPUTRESCENT I would think that the state of the website is just as it is supposed to be.

You can see HTML code at the bottom of the front page now. Multiple links lead to 404 pages. Was there ever anything of value on this website? I do see that the lyrics to the one song that is available as an MP3 download refer to the legend of the beast in a vague way. It's hard to imagine the MPC set all of this up just for that. Beckett, at least with the law firm in "Tempus Fugit" you can find the page using the Wayback Machine. You folks know this site? web-capture.net/It's great for capturing entire web pages as a jpeg, tiff, pdf file for reference.

You can see HTML code at the bottom of the front page now. Multiple links lead to 404 pages. The code has only been showing up for a few days; apparently it is java code, but nothing the creator of the website wrote, but something to do with angelfire. I was talking to Virginia R Hall a couple of days ago about the website. Since it comes closest to fulfilling the stretch goal online puzzle description, we were wondering if we had missed something there. Todd suggested taking a closer look at the audio file, but so far I have only tried playing the song backwards. Suffice to say, there was no obvious secret message there. As for the non-functioning links, those have been there since day one. Apart from the broken code the site has not changed since the first run of the Experience.

Have you tried slowing down the audio or applying a filter to lessen the background noise?

Have you tried slowing down the audio or applying a filter to lessen the background noise? Nothing so sophisticated yet - but I just might keep fiddling with it when time allows. If I find anything, I will let you know!

The whole thing just seems like a lot of hooey for no reason. What's the point?

The whole thing just seems like a lot of hooey for no reason. What's the point? There isn't one. I won't repeat my complaints other than to re-state that this feels like something they made up on the fly. Pardon the language, but it's a half-assed experienced.

If there truly is no hidden meaning to the website or the song, then it is still another document to the mailing. I suppose the main attraction is the song itself, since it is what connects the band to the Beast.
It also somewhat grounds the Experience in the real world, since there are mentions to the Helvete record store, and it would seem that Dark Oath used to be a real magazine. All in all it is something for the recipient to read and get a bit paranoid about: If this band espoused the lore of the Century beast, did it cast its shadow on the whole of the early Norwegian Black Metal Scene? Are all those church burnings connected?
