Noted on the website that before you log in, there is a note to sign up to be a cardholder so that you will get information about an upcoming Kickstarter. Lots of chatter about this in various other spaces - namely how it affects current annual subscribers and whether it's connected to the already advertised stories or if it is something new. And of course the usual conversation of "will this be on time?" that comes with any Kickstarter.

Well it's confirmed: "Bete Noir," the previously announced story is launching along with a newly announced second story, "Higher Than Magic" which is apparently a story about people who've been kidnapped by faries.
Boring Crimes Redux WILL be an experience, likely coming first this fall, but will only run for 3 months and not all of those will include mailings.

Well count me a little nervous. Their funding goal is wild, particularly at their price point: they'd need 1500-2000 backers to hit the goal at the current rate! Also, while their tagline and visual are intriguing, they do absolutely nothing to describe what the project actually is, and once you get into the actual campaign you have to sift through that big wall of text to figure out what they're actually making with no visuals at all of the new stories.
Couple that with the fact that there's very little incentive for existing subscribers to back this as most of us still hae 6 months on our subscriptions and I can't imagine this will fund on first try.
EDIT: the avg. pledge amount has increased somewhat to $246, which is fantastic and means they'd "only" need 1300-or-so backers to fund, but IF this goes viral on Kickstarter that avg. pledge amount is going to drop right back down and I just can't see them sustaining 1500+ monthly subscribers at the quality of A Feather in Dust. It just seems like a lose-lose.
