This is pretty cool actually. As for ideas, I would do a little reconnaissance on the Mason's, Dan Browns fiction, Sherlock Holmes, and the league of extraordinary gentlemen for inspiration. Also have a look at fraternity and sorority initiation ceremonies, and potentially a few fictional movies like The Skulls (from 2000). Then you'll have to spend quite some time backstopping the society. Another good example is (I know it's weird) the Gilmore Girls - and the Life and Death Brigade (infamous for stunts that challenge ones idea of illegal). A token saying In omnia Paratus could be used. You can set it up like s mysterious geocaching situation where each clue helps send the person to a place to collect the next part. There's a lot you can do

Actually, I think the geocaching idea is ripping good, if you live close enough or know someone who is willing to be a co-conspirator. What I like about it is the addition of other sensations -- reading, hearing, thinking are all kind of usual for this thing... walking, digging, scrounging are pretty novel

I'd suggest that you look into already existing fake secret societies, there are a fair few out there. Find one you like and co-opt it. You're already looking at a ton of work for actual execution creating a fake society from the ground up will be quite a lot of work. I will say that if you're going the whole 9 yards your fake site needs to be on the darknet.
