So I want to try and create puzzles myself too. But I have no idea exactly where to start, or what to be careful for when making something. What are some nice tips and tricks you guys can give that are essential for puzzle making?
What makes something a good puzzle, and what makes it bad?

I highly recommend picking up a copy of Puzzlecraft (https://shop.lonesharkgames.com/collections/puzzlecraft) for variety puzzles in general, and a copy of The Crossword Constructor's Handbook (http://aframegames.com/store/?download=21) if you are interested in creating crosswords.
