Todd, please move if I put this in the wrong place.
I emailed MPC and asked about future boxes in 2017, since we are only receiving our second box in late Aug (unless I am misremembering??). The answer was that they do expect to send a total of 4 boxes in 2017, so another two after Aug. I don't think they will manage it, but you never know. There was no promise explicit or implied in their answer to my question. Just that they do expect a total of 4 boxes shipped in 2017. I'll look for the email on my desktop tomorrow and try to post it so everyone can see the answer for themselves.

Here is a copy of the whole email exchange. My email asking the question is on the bottom. Their answer comes first. *** *** Re: Question Member Services <concierge@mysteriouspackage.com> Reply| Mon 7/17, 11:07 AM Dear Distantsmoke, Thank you so much for your enquiry! Of course, you would be 'curios', and we appreciate that quality in our members Indeed, with the delays to the first issue of 2017, due to a reinvention of the subscription box and its contents, there has only been one issue shipped to members thus far, "Gods of Madness". And, yes, "The Brain Butchers" is going out to all active subscribers in mid-to-late August. It is actually our intention to get two more issues out to subscribers before the end of the year! Of course, I don't want to make that a guarantee, but that's the word on the street. You will hear word from the Curator when the next issue(s) are set to go, and of course, billing would happen a couple of weeks prior to the deadline for purchase by new members. I hope that is somewhat helpful Lucille. If you should have any further questions or comments, a friendly Concierge would be more than happy to help you. Emails can be so easily misread. So far this year, if I remember correctly (which is not guaranteed), we have had one Curios & Conundrums box. A second will be shipped in late August. At this rate it would be surprising if a third managed to ship before the end of the year. Surprising, but possible. But I see no way for a fourth to be shipped in 2017. Will quarterly shipping be ditched entirely? Is this an artifact of the new design and you expect to ship four boxes next year? I am merely curious. Naturally it would be fun to receive more boxes, but as each box is paid for when shipped I have no problem with the current state of affairs. As I said, I am just curious. I've got the two so far... but have a quick question. Are these indeed stand-alone boxes/stories/puzzles? I ask because I'm going away for a week-long retreat next week and thought I'd bring at least one box with me. I'm saving my Hunt A Killer subscription boxes to work on with my grown kids for our game nights, but we're take SO LONG to have another game night that I'd like to fiddle with the C&C boxes in the meantime (since I probably won't do those with my kids).
If they're self-contained units, that's great because I can work on one next week and enjoy it all by myself!
Two more boxes this year would be amazing, but I'm assuming at this point it'll be only one more. And that's fine as long as they're only billing us for three instead of four.

Yup, totally self-contained. Of course, there's a chance that the MPC is playing a long game and they actually are connected in a way that none of us understand, but for now, they're designed to be totally stand-alone. Fair warning that if you're a seasoned puzzle solver, one box will not last you very long, as they've dramatically reduced the difficulty of the puzzles (for example, it took me about an hour to solve every puzzle in Brain Butchers).

Well... the retreat isn't just for this. I'm actually hoping to finish work on two different books I've got almost ready to send out into the world. But I know five days away from internet, cable TV, and even phone service will mean having a variety of other things to do when I'm not working. I thought one or two of the C&C boxes would be perfect. I'm also bringing books to read, DVDs to watch, and an iPod full of music.

They're still taking preorders until October 18, and it's not scheduled to ship until October 27.
