First helpful hint: do not sneeze!

No. Don't sneeze. And inspect the box filling carefully, as always.

For those who don't want to hold item X from box 2 over steam , there is another, simpler way using rubber cement thinner or kerosene. It leaves no mark and the original item will remain perfectly intact. Achoo!

I hope there's a guide/walkthrough at the end, because I'm not seeing any clues anywhere, past ~2 in Box #1. It's very discouraging. I'm trying to enjoy the project for what it tangibly is - a cute project on my coffee table, but I feel like I'm missing a huge part of the experience. Also, I'm finding the smaller items impossible to cut out cleanly, so that's a bummer, too.
(Sorry to be a downer, I'm just so, so frustrated.)

Don't be discouraged -- and I don't think anyone has found more than 2 secret messages in Box #1. Box #2 had 3 messages that people were able to find, who knows what we'll get in Box 3. One of the messages in Box #2 is easier to find after you get a little additional information from Box #3. Maybe we need to go back to Box #1 armed with additional information from boxes #2 and #3? Lady Delaney made it very clear that we shouldn't look at each box as a self-contained chapter, but that each box contains some new information and fills in some previous blanks. On the furniture, I agree that some of the pieces are pretty fiddly. I've been using a blade and straight-edge or a curved blade for the dollhouse stuff instead of scissors. Scoring the folds deserved a little more emphasis than it got, since some of this stuff depends on crisp folds to be stable. A little brown felt pen to touch up some of the cut edges and back sides of the legs of the furniture works wonders. Also, I found double-sided tape to be much easier to use than the glue, but that may be because I'm used to using double-sided tape. I've really been enjoying the story she's telling. Speaking for myself, I think the secret messages in Boxes #1 and #2 have been more along the lines of additional creepy atmosphere, sort of like the messages on the dollhouse sheets. She did say we would be directed to a 'final dossier' at the end. I'm curious about what might have been there that I missed as well, but it hasn't interfered with the intrigue the contents of the box present.

I'm a little late to this party and Lady Delany was kind enough to space my mailings. Thank you all for posting spoiler tags so I can only read what I want. So far, it's a great novelty to be able to help CREATE the mystery in addition to solving it. I'm okay with not knowing everything right up front. I'm just hoping I don't throw away anything important! eek.

If it would be helpful, I could do a walk-thru with photos assembling this next batch of furniture and/or I also have a copy of the bed I could re-build. Honestly, felt pen is your friend and so is just simplifying stuff that's going to be too annoying to cut accurately.
Regardless, keep in mind that the trick isn't doing it perfectly, it's doing it so no one notices a problem. No one will ever be as close to any of this stuff as you are while you're assembling it, there's a big difference in what you see looking at something from 6" away vs. 3' away. Plus, no one who sees your dollhouse will know what the original drawings looked like and won't know if you cut a few corners or colored in a few bald spots...

Excellent advice, H and H in a basket! You'd make a good magician. It took ages to sort through the excelsior packing (shredded paper this time) in box 3. I'm nagged by the thought that the shredded sheet music might be important or a clue. I take amanda's "curioser and curioser" comment to mean (possibly) that each box has been slightly smaller than the one which preceded it.

I meant it more along the lines of "the plot thickens" or "the game is afoot"... a lot of intriguing details to digest and to re-digest in light of new information.

I wondered about my packaging too. mine is also music. But I admit I'm really really wondering just exactly what I'm supposed to be doing with that Spanish moss used in box #2...and where can I get a chicken?

So, since you guys mention packaging... I have a suggestion. Try a black light on the shred. I'd be interested to hear what you find. I'll show you mine if you show me yours.
