There are several pictures in this issue that are not directly related to any particular story. The pictures can be found on the wiki at curios-and-conundrums.wikia.com/wiki/Other_Clues:_Knick_Knack_MetropolisFor the first, consider the Italian name of this Michaelangelo. For the second, consider the unit by which this is sold. For the third, You'll want the French word for these. For the fourth, consider that this may be a hired full-time caregiver. From there, the common theme should be readily apparent.

I have some of the picture commonalities in Volume 1 solved, but this one is giving me some trouble, even with the above hints. Here are my thoughts so far: First: Pieta, which "without the E" is pita, perhaps.
Second: The image is string or twine, which is sold by the spool, as far as I'm concerned. Third: It looks like a bocce ball set, which would be 'boules' in French. Fourth: After reading Todd's hint above, I'm thinking 'nanny' or 'au pair' I must be on the wrong path on probably a few of these, as I can't find any commonalities between these ideas. Any further nudges would be helpful!

For the first, You are on the right track. For the second, There is another word they use around here, and maybe it's regional, but it's the same word you'd use to describe what that ball of twine would do if you dropped it on a hill. For the third. Try the singular. The fourth, my interpretation is somewhat controversial, but think of A nickname you might call a nanny.

Perfect, thank you! I was on this track, especially considering my confidence in my first answer, but I needed the extra boost to make the rest fit. The regional difference on the second one was probably what threw me for the biggest loop. It really had me knotted up!

Well, I understand the connection from the three I figured out, but even with the helpful clues here, I cannot get number 4 at all.

I believe I know the connection as well, but I also cannot get number 4 at all. Could I also get a clue? Number 4 is a BIG stretch. PM me what you have and I'll clue you, as it's kind of hard to do generally without basically giving away the answer.
