I am so glad I asked for my money back a year ago.

I just looked up Robert Sabuda on eBay, and his older stuff seems to be worth around 3.00 to 10.00 dollars. One of his new “books” was selling for 29.99$. Absolutely the last time I trust an artist with money.

It's now been nearly seven weeks since we were told that "Your original piece of artwork by Robert Sabuda is being created right now and will hopefully start shipping out in the next few weeks."

Welp, here it is. It measures 9"x12". A cipher lock card was also included.

The only interesting thing about it is that the edition size tells us how many people got screwed.

To be honest, I don't really want it. What an ego... if he thinks that's worth what ANYone paid for the Armchair mysteries. Even at the lowest Kickstarter level.

Personally I think it’s trash. I figure if I’m lucky and work hard enough to find the right buyer I may get 20$ for it, if and when I get it.

Not to drag out this unfortunate situation further, but just wanted to note an extremely odd email update today The text was normal, but what was odd was in the middle of the update was a picture of Shelby in a hospital bed. It just struck me as unnecessary and almost invasive to show that picture. Anyhow, here's the text for anyone still waiting for their perk:
Dear Indiegogo backers,
We have shipped out the first 200 alternate perks, we will be working on shipping out the rest, thank you for your patience.
Unfortunately there has not been much change with Shelby’s health, she is going to see if she can be approved for nerve transplant surgery in her arm, to try to get any kind of movement in it.
Thank you again for her well wishes.

I heard back from the Kansas AG today. He said they finally got a response (and a good address) for ADC. The response was that they had sent out an alternative perk. So I offered to email him a scan of the alternative perk and he accepted. I have sent the scan. We'll see what comes of it. I fully realize this stupid line drawing may be the end of the matter, but I refuse to go quietly into that good night. I plan on kicking and screaming every inch of the way.

I'm still trying to find out what my options for redress are here in the UK. To suggest a print (not an even an original piece of art) by a niche artist with an edition of over 800 is worth nearly $500 is absolutely ludicrous. There are signed limited books by Stephen King that arent worth that much. I have a number of art portfolios from respected comic and book artists with far larger followings than Sabuda, and they're worth a fraction of the supposed value of the print.

Sabuda is a very big cheese in the world of pop up and movable books. His name was certainly a big reason I bought in, and that was probably the case with many others. The notion that someone else could not be found to complete the project is nonsense. Shameful nonsense.

However, I wonder if the photo of Ms. Arnold included in this update is recent? Is she still in the hospital on a ventilator - since February? If so it doesn't seem like getting nerve transplant surgery in her arm would be her top priority. If it's a photo from several months ago when she first fell ill, it's just another example of the lies and manipulation that have gone on with this "company" since the beginning. If Sabuda is indeed a "big cheese" in the pop-upmart world, the fact that he's ignored this whole debacle is shameful.
