Hello friends. I haven't popped on in some time. I'm surprised that no one has started a thread yet about MPC's newest "experience", The Crate of Cthulhu.
Only one delivery, and they give away the picture. No reveal either. Sort of a Meso-American Cthulhu but is it worth the $200 ticket?
Thoughts?

If you are a collector, like me, then yes. If you are a puzzler, then probably no.

It makes me sad that they just cut to the chase now -- Here, you're buying this statue. This is it, just buy it.That said, I do like the statue, and I think my son would, as well. I just don't think I can justify giving the MPC any of my money.

It's really no different than Demon Jar, Weeping Book, and Vulcan Tooth (or whatever it was called before cancellation).
True, Weeping Book did have the code to decipher, but we don't know what will be in the papers which accompany the statue.
The problem, it seems, is that they've just shown us the item in advance (as you say Ms. Hall), thus removing allowing the company to be renamed The Not So Mysterious Package Company.

If you are a collector, like me, then yes. If you are a puzzler, then probably no. More a collector like you. I was afraid you might say something like that. Sigh. I just shelled out big time for the HPLHS DART Super Deluxe Masks of Nyarlathotep. But it does look nice ...

If I had just bought the motherlode that you bought, then the new MPC experience would not be on my radar.

The Not So Mysterious Package Company. How about The Obvious Package Company?

How about "The Boring Company."
Oh ... that's already taken.

How about "The Boring Company." Oh ... that's already taken. Really? Because I think I work there...

Elon Musk's company that digs tunnels under cities which will help people escape traffic (they are digging under Los Angeles at the moment) is called The Boring Company.

Well, some word eating is in order. Received this today and it's huge and heavy. Terrific artifact. A bunch of papers (you can really see the difference in nicely hand-aged papers and what we received with Wilson Wolfe), most of which are in a distressed tin box. A second, smaller artifact. A many-paged hand distressed manuscript. My first impression is that it compares very well with prior experiences, even if the mailing is all-in-one. Personally, both as a Jew and a human, I find Lovecraft to be a loathsome person (see lithub.com/we-cant-ignore-h-p-lovecrafts-white-supremacy/) but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy his work, or works inspired by his creations. If anyone is interested in photos, just say so.

Even though the artifact is shown on the MPC's homepage, I will use spoilers here for the contents. Here, the crate is shown beside the crate for for Curse of the Werejaguar for comparison. Contents of the metal box.
