to ask a question...
I ordered rise of the cult and didnt realize it was a (sort-of) sequel to the king in yellow, and when the king in yellow all in one came i immediately ordered it. It says the the first mailing is shipping 17th november and the king in yellow all in one is shipping nov 30. should i save my rise of the cult package and wait for king in yellow to come or should i just open rise of the cult when it comes and and just open them when they come?

Actually, I have to disagree here. There is one element of one mailing of Rise of the Cult that will lose a lot of its power if you don't go through King in Yellow first, as it's a direct continuation of something from King in Yellow. It would be like reading a story out of order. I definitely agree that both experiences benefit enormously from reading the stories they're based on first, though you don't have to read every one of the stories; the first four (The Repairer of Reputations, The Mask, In the Court of the Dragon, and The Yellow Sign) are the ones that connect to these experiences.

Yes, Apparently the king in yellow book comes with the experience, so that's cool.

also. my king in yellow crate is shipping nov 30, and the first mailing of rise of the cult is shipping the 17. Since thegenii said it wasnt sequential, and dmikester said that a item in the 3rd mailing required viewing of the king in yellow first, I am just going to open them the way they come. Is this a good way to do this?

It should be fine, but Rise of the Cult is definitely a sequel and takes place after King in Yellow. Other than the one mailing I mentioned though, it shouldn’t be a problem and actually, from a narrative perspective it might be kind of cool to have King in Yellow be a “flashback” during Rise of the Cult.
