I'm just not really sure what to think about this

Ummm...so that's part of their new spring line up.

I've read the description and I'm not sure what it is. Is The Adventure Zone a popular podcast? I'm afraid I don't do my casting in pods.

There's an add-on available for another $35 more. Taako's Sizzling Chef Bundle.
This is still adding up to one of their least expensive Experiences, with the add-on, it's still a penny less than The Weeping Book.

I play D&D and have never heard of it. I have a friend that is way more into D&D than I am (and listens to D&D podcasts); he'd never heard of it either.

Ah, what the heck. This looks like a (relatively) inexpensive way to see MPC's vision of their future.

Yeah, I'm inclined to try this out for some reason. Can't beat that discount!

They've also added an FAQ section to the website today. It discusses this product but also explains the whole MPC ethos. Not so mysterious now, I guess.

Just can’t get on board with this. Continual pushing of the ‘family’ element to MPC leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

It's a bit concerning that they haven't given an indication of when the Experience will ship. Or did I miss it?

And I'm no longer doing this because they're asking for THIRTY dollars for shipping. Unbelievable.

Just can’t get on board with this. Continual pushing of the ‘family’ element to MPC leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Agreed. The whole thing just reeks of desperation. MPC ruined C&C with more "modern" writing styles (the prior quaint and antiquated style was much more engaging, at least for me), and this just solidifies that they're going for the overall "tongue in cheek" vein that makes me cringe. The fact that they have to state, in italics even, that it will be presented "in the MPC style" is the nail in the coffin for me, because that "MPC style" has, IMO, degraded to the point that I'm no longer interested. I still dream that at some point they'll have an "AHA" moment where they realize that they've gone down a very wrong path, but with this weirdness, that moment obviously hasn't happened.

I do like Justin McElroy on podcasts, but I don't see this working. And I agree with pretty much everything you've all said.

The tale will be told in the MPC Style: through several documents and activities sent to you by post, and for the first time at The Mysterious Package Company, an interactive component will allow you to submit your work directly to Taako through a digital Stone of Far Speech! The second correspondence expands the story further and concludes with a unique reward that you can display in your home for all your hard work, making friends jealous and enemies envious.
So first post you can submit "your work" by e-mail or a website. Second post has a curio.
...
I guess my problem for me personally is buying something that appears to be a parody of Harry Potter? This doesn't seem terribly original.
Pass.
