It is up to you, really. According to the item description, Volume 3 should also come with the newspapers for volume 1 and 2 and the community here is really great for filling in the blanks for the missing curios.
Volume 4 and each issue within is standalone and solvable by themselves. There are some "Easter eggs" that do tie them in to the larger story, but aren't critical for puzzle solving.
I personally would recommend volume 3. Then get volume 4 later if you want.

I would go for volume 3, especially if it comes wth volumes 1 and 2. It's a deep puzzling and storytelling experience, while I found volume 4 to be lighter fun.

V3 is amazing. I say go with that one. And, if you want V4, I am looking to sell mine. Like new. Lol.

There are puzzles in 1 and 2. Some of the curios are needed but you can fill in the blanks here or with the wiki.

If you buy Volume 3 - you get all the newspaper issues from Volumes 1 & 2. You just don't get the curios...but the pictures and information you need is on the C&C Wiki. So you get everything you need if you buy Volume 3. Skip Volume 4...not worth the money.
The best of C&C was in Volumes 1-3 and you can have the whole adventure for the low price. Just need to refer to pictures of the SOME of the curios on the Wiki.
100% worth it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi there! I too am late to the party but stumbled across the podcast that Scott and Katie put together while researching MPC experiences. I’ve been mulling over getting the Vol 3 set since that one seems to have more layers and an overarching storyline. Came to the forum loking for an answer to this question guess I’ll be diving in and I’m so glad this forum exists because it looks like there used to be a substantial collaboration element.
