As an artifact I am somewhat confused by the Tomb piece. If it is supposed to be a piece broken off a wall of a tomb or something, then there would be no hieroglyphics on the back. It ruins the "authenticity" of the "artifact". Am I wrong? If not broken off a wall, then what did the artifact supposed to have come off from?

I've seen much worse. Still... Those air bubbles... You know, it's funny. I never even realized that those were air bubbles, but you're totally right, especially on the back. I actually kind of like the pattern that they end up making, but if we're talking about full realism here, it's pretty awful. And mine was a pre-order first run Artifact, and not a replacement.

This really is an interesting thread, as even the artifacts from the original run do each look slightly different. I'm especially intrigued by the differences in weathering. Compared to the ones posted here, mine looks to be the most weathered on the top, though nothing close to the one on the left in the comparison photo. I'm almost wondering if we should start threads for artifacts from other Experiences to compare appearances. There's a few photos in our Facebook group showing poor hunt for the forgotten Tomb artifact quality. Seems like they're cutting corners lately. Didn’t realize there was a Facebook group. I might be interested in joining... Is that possible?

It's been 18 days since I submitted an inquiry about my John Augur artifact asking them to replace it. No response.

From MPC support:
"By comparing both images with the scrimshaws with those being produced in our shop, yours is the more representative of the one showcased on our website and I can say with confidence that this work is a result of the culmination of artistic and technical decisions, the conclusions of which arrived at after more than a year's experience of working on The Lost Treasure of John Augur experience. With that, it also stands true that because like all of the elements we send out into the world, these are worked on by human hands which produces variations, also making each item unique."

Here, I'll annotate for accuracy. "I can say with confidence that this work is a result of the culmination of artistic and technical but mostly financial cost-cutting decisions, the conclusions of which arrived at after more than a year's experience of working on The Lost Treasure of John Augur experience when we discovered that we could make more money by replacing our molds less often. With that, it also stands true that because like all of the elements we begrudgingly send out into the world, these are worked on by human hands which produces weird and unnatural variations, also making each item unique just like your preschooler's art project at daycare, that precious little snowflake!"

If you guys missed it in the Facebook group, someone wrote an open letter to Jason Kapalka outlining some of the company's recent offenses, and instead of addressing it he just left the group. Pretty amazing.

Holy run-on, badly written sentences, Batman! Seriously, I don't know what the English language ever did to this person, but it does not deserve to be tortured like this.

Someone recently posted in the Kelsey Marine Salvage Facebook group that one of their map fragments was torn in such a way that a necessary element was missing if they should attempt to solve the activity.
I've been hesitant to call it a puzzle.
