This may be common knowledge to many of you and I apologize if it is. I searched this forum and found mention of Google Translate but not necessarily the app that you may already have on your phone if it's an Android and, from my understanding, is available for iPhone, too. If you don't know of it already, Google Translate uses your phone's camera to translate the text it sees between many different languages. There's an Instant feature that can be turned on at the bottom of the screen which will translate text within images in real time, even matching background and text colors. Here's an example of Russian to English (spoiler of one of the artifacts from Risen): Photo of ID on the left, screenshot of app on the right. It's pretty wild the way it alters the reality of an image's text on the fly. Think John Carpenter's They Live where donning those sunglasses transforms a billboard to read "CONSUME". Sometimes the Instant feature causes the text to maddeningly bounce around between different translations, usually when there's a lot of text of varying size. In this case, tapping the camera icon will grab a still image where you can swipe the text you want translated and the plain text will be displayed, almost always with a much better translation than the Instant feature. I had a lot of fun reading (mild spoiler for Century Beast)... ...the descriptions of the mail order items on the back of the comic page.

I did the same thing with the Century Beast comic page. Great fun. I'd forgotten to try this with Risen. Excellent tip, rob!

I used Google translate for CB, but I didn't think to use the app. I did it the nice manual type everything in way. I don't ever think about the camera feature.

If you travel to foreign countries and need to read street signs or menus, the camera feature is amazing. But it doesn't work very well for Japanese!
