Sadly my previous long missive was lost when I sent it. The forum doesn't seem to work well for me, so I will try to recreate my previous brief.
I don't come to this venue often. I was saddened at the demise of The Sitting Room and never joined this group until I began another Experience, whereupon I joined to discuss its twists and mysteries. But now I find myself once again saddened by recent events in The Company (in truth, the Sadness began at the advent of C&C Volume 4), and so have returned hopefully for some direction.
When I last visited this venue there was a conversation which discussed other pastimes similar (in Spirit, if not in Actuality) to what our old, beloved Company provided, but I don't seem to presently find this conversation, as things seem to have been rearranged since my last visit. I was wondering if perhaps some kind soul could help me then with a question?
Since the Rearrangement, I see a few conversations upon other such services, but none fulfill what The Company once did for me. Each I have seen is not an option for me due to any of several qualities, to wit:
*) I have no interest in "games" one plays with friends at a setting, like other table games. *) I likewise have no interest in "Escape Games". *) The "Murder Mysteries" and similar I have seen do not intrigue me either.
What I loved about The Company's older Experiences as well as (three quarters of) C&C were that they were complete, immersive experiences comprised of such things as puzzles, mysterious, winding interwoven stories, Artifacts, and sundry which could be as immersive as one liked. I loved the edge of Darkness they brought to my life as well as the whimsy they added for balance. Nothing I have found currently discussed here has that feel, except for, perhaps, the Dead Letters. My question, in brief, is could one perhaps make suggestions that might be more to my tastes, or indeed, direct me to an existing such conversation should one currently exist?
Thank you so much for your consideration!! Rags

It's been mentioned before, but Wilson Wolfe looks to really revel in the same space that C&C used to. I know it calls itself a "game", but it is not a typical board game experience.

Oh thank you so much for the reply! I had seen that one in the latest discussions and had perused it. Sadly it definitely appears way too "kitschy" and "game-y" for my tastes. Thank you for the kind suggestion though!

Thank you for the kind suggestion though! Mmmmmm....It might look that way on the surface, but you might want to check out some of the videos they've put on the YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter. There's definitely a dark and twisted story hiding under the cute 1930s style animation. Plus, they'll give you some free puzzling fun. www.facebook.com/simulacragames/

Thank you so much, Katalia for your kind response as well. Unlike the other, I was completely unaware of this one. The initial discussions make it seem more puzzle than Experience, but as it is still newly-birthed I'll definitely keep abreast of it! Thank you so much!

From reading raggedrobin's post, she's looking for replacements for Experiences, without an emphasis on puzzles. Unfortunately, MPC was pretty much offering a unique product there. I've not found any similar storytelling experiences that did not intertwine with puzzles. Even MPC has lost sight of that vision, and has begun integrating puzzles into their Experiences. Wonderful Objects is a neat concept. wonderfulobjects.co/ But rather than provide a story, they let you fill in the story on your own to their curated objects. I've not tried it personally. It's not a multiple-mailing with a prestige artifact format, but you might find it up your alley.

Forgotten Folios tells stories...some without puzzles...but they don't have the level of artifacts and curios that go with them.

Todd, I took a peek and it looks interesting, but there does not appear to be a "prestige" object or collectible at the end of their trail. Have you seen one of these first hand? Looks kind of hodge-podgy.

Looks kind of hodge-podgy. Nope, never seen one. But yeah, it just looks like a themed loot crate to me. Just with a bit more care to create a fantasy story.

Oh my, but I hope I wasn't too unspecific, but Our Todd has read my brief rightly. Several of the items mentioned look interesting, but I'll wait until they're more firmly established to decide if they're for me. The Wonderful Objects look absolutely delightful, but alas, my Wunderkammer is well nigh overflowing, so I must wait until I find something similar to what The Company once offered. Sadly it seems nothing such exists now. Thank you all so much for your recommendations and consideration!

Our very own Centaurofattn has created an experience he's been selling over on Etsy called The Sound of Insanity, which was a lot of fun. It's currently listed as sold out but maybe you could talk him into another run. (Rumor has it there's a second one in the works too.)

Thank you so much Amanda for that addition to the recommendations as well. It does indeed appear to be more to my tastes, and it had a certain feel reminiscent of the Romances of Our Dear Mr Haggard which I so love. I'll certainly keep watch for a new edition of this one.

I found The Haunted Dollhouse to have a fantastic, immersive story. I ended up not loving it because of the sparsity of puzzle, which I was particularly looking for. But found the crafting aspect of it, surprisingly, a great addition - especially as a way to further the story-telling. Maybe worth looking into, based on what you may be interested in. www.lettersfromdeadpeople.com/product-page/the-haunted-dollhouse
