So far, we've had: - Quest of the Werejaguar [GONE]
- The Century Beast [GONE]
- Risen [GONE]
- The King in Yellow [GONE]
- The Demon Jar [GONE]
Any guesses as to what's next on the chopping block? We should start a pool for which one will be last to go. I'll put $10 on The Filigree in Shadow.

I'm so confused as to what is actually going on. Was MPC bought/sold? Why would someone buy it but shut so much down, including C&C? I've been away from the forums for quite awhile; I've read a bunch of new things but haven't found a good summary, which I'm sure exists. Can someone help clue me in?
Thanks!

I've been away from the forums for quite awhile; I've read a bunch of new things but haven't found a good summary, which I'm sure exists. Can someone help clue me in? Thanks! Basically, yes, MPC was bought/sold. The exact details are unclear, but it seems that a silent partner/investor became much less silent and effectively took over (that part is more theory than definite, but it seems the most likely scenario). As far as we can tell, all of the original people are gone. Tim Sullivan, who was the face of the MPC for most of its existence and was likely The Curator in the early days, is definitely gone, and Ryan Henson Creighton, who goes by verdantfruu on the forums, was the puzzle designer for Volumes 3 and 4 of C&C and was also fired at the end of last year. kris4g here is also a former MPC staff member who was let go, and as far as we understand it, they fired their entire creative team at the end of last year (right around Christmas) so at the moment they're just a manufacturing company. They teased something called Murder For Sale with the final volume of C&C, which led to an application you actually had to print out and mail in, but they haven't marketed it in any way since that teaser in C&C, so very unclear if it's actually happening, especially with no creative team. There was a "confirmation" on social media that they're not going out of business, but with the way things are going, seems hard to know either way. Oh, and my vote is that Demon Jar is next after King in Yellow, which is confirmed to be the next to go.

Tempus Fugit would be my next guess, followed by the Demon Jar. My guess is that they've learned that the experiences with puzzles/activities are more popular, so they are phasing out the less interactive experiences. I've seen enough gripes on Facebook from people bemoaning nothing to *do* with an experience that this makes sense from a marketing standpoint. Now they don't have to worry about new customers getting turned off by the older experiences and never trying the newer (and improved, but the old ones have their charms, so I agree that this whole archiving thing is unfortunate) ones.

While I would normally have guessed Tempus Fugit (and that would be my personal taste choice as it's my least favorite of their Experiences), a discussion I had with a since departed MPC staff member led to the disclosure that Tempus Fugit was apparently at one point their best selling Experience by far. No idea if that's still true, but this was in the time period before Filigree, Cult, and Tomb had been released but everything else had been.

I bet my 10 bucks on Tempus Fugit. I'm gonna say they'll discount and heavily promote the sale of Tempus, and quietly discontinue Filigree.

Tempus fugit or the weeping book I’d say.

I am going to guess Tempus Fugit though for my personal collection I am hoping for Demon Jar or John Auger. I had asked about the century beast challenge coin when they put that up on the chopping block (received the experience via the surprise me over a year ago, so was curious about the coin) they mentioned they were putting up all their challenge coins for sale at some point soon. Cleaning house indeed.

I really enjoyed Volume 3 - any idea if any of the crew has moved onto any other puzzling ventures? For those mentioned that are active on the forum, I would love to hear your thoughts on what might be next or what experiences you think are most worthwhile. Also, sad. Just very, very sad.

I think that most of us that really loved C&C have purchased Simulacra's game, Wilson Wolfe, and are biding our time waiting for its release later this summer.

Plus, they're filling in the dark times with really well produced "bonus videos" that have some good puzzle elements to them.

Silent partner/investor gets tired of not making money (or enough money) and steps in. Pushes out all the people who made the company good, and then proceeds to sell off the assets to try and get as much return on investment as possible. An old, old story.
Everything they still sell will be offered for less at some point in the near future as the company limps toward its end.

Demon Jar just went up on sale and with the dreaded "soon to be archived" banner.
