I received an offer from MPC today for Rise of the Cult: "A special offer because you purchased The King in Yellow". The (brief) email describes it as "the companion Experience to The King in Yellow", and has a $50 discount code (which doesn't seem to actually work, but that's another story).
For those of you who have received both The King in Yellow and Rise of the Cult, I have a couple of questions.
1) Is it a logical successor experience? Would it be better to have experienced the Kind in Yellow before Rise of the Cult?
2) How is the value of the experience compared to other experiences? My most impressive experience so far has been Filigree in Shadow (KS version), even though my artifact arrived broken.
3) The order page asks me to choose between two options (We Win the Battle / They Win the War) and gives me no context for making a choice. I hate making decisions with a lack of information. Any recommendations?

Yes, it does logically go with it and made the new experience enjoyable to me. KiY is more historical, like what happened a long time ago vs Cult is more contemporary, so they play nicely off each other.
The experience has a fun* activity and a decent amount of reading materials and tangible items. I thought it was worth the value when I got it slightly on sale.
So far the difference has been with a tarot card you get at the end. Unfortunately, I can't remember which I chose in order to guide your decision, but I think the actual story ending is the same. Someone else should chime in and clarify though.
My 'other story' is that I received this email as well, but didn't actually purchase The King in Yellow from them. Another tech blip?
*depends on your definition of fun. I liked it. And easy enough for other less-puzzly people to play along with.

To chime in as far as the Epilogue goes, I chose "They Win the War" and got the same card that craigrj did, but actually, I'm not sure we've ever fully compared Epilogue mailings with people who got the other Tarot card to see if they're dramatically different at all. I really think this is a great Experience, one of their best in fact, but there are others who were very let down by the Artifact/ending in general. The general narrative isn't as tight as King in Yellow, and I don't find it quite as compelling as King in Yellow, but I do think that the quality of the ephemera is very high (an artifact you'll get in the first mailing is one of my favorite items they've ever produced) and there's a lot of very nice attention to detail in this one, including following up with some story elements of King in Yellow and an extremely convincing fake website for the shipping company (honestly one of the best fake websites for any ARG-like thing I've ever seen). In terms of King in Yellow, until the third mailing, I would have said that you didn't need it to enjoy this, but there's an item in the third mailing that requires knowledge of King In Yellow to fully appreciate and understand. Cult is still probably fine without King In Yellow, and indeed there are some small items that are identical in each so that people just purchasing Cult would be able to more or less get the narrative. And I just realized I answered all of your questions in reverse order....

If you are able, buy both. Together, these experiences comprise one of the MPC's best efforts.

Rise of the cult is shipping nov 17 and king in yellow is hipping nov 30. when i get the first mailing of rise of the cult, should i just put it somewhere and wait for the king in yellow or should i just open them when i recieve them?

Replied to your same question in the thread you started on this subject.

Both KiY and RotC were purchased as gifts, sent within a few months of eachother. I got KiY first before the MPC sold it as an all-in-one experience, which means I didn't get the book which now comes with it.
But, being a mythos/KiY fan, I decided to purchase it (and the Challenge Coin) to supplement my experience and complete my collection. Lo and behold, their copy of the KiY is entirely original from any copies you can purchase online or in book stores. More than that, there are symbols scribbled throughout the book...
This is a neat tie-in to RotC because I'll need to break out a certain disk and a certain document to get to the bottom of it. Worst luck, they're in storage since I recently moved to temporary quarters.
If one simply purchases KiY, it probably adds some creepy/mysterious flavour to the items received (though the experience might be lessened receiving everything in bulk rather than spread out through multiple mailings), but it's definitely a nice touch for anyone making the jump to RotC afterwards.
