Greetings.
I have recently procured a very limited number (23) of a certain type of item and I would like to turn it into a new experience/puzzle/mystery thing similar to The Sound of Insanity, though perhaps not the same theme at all.
I have a few gimmicks planned, but not a plot, or a setting, or anything really. So here is your chance. What would you like to see an experience based around? Your idea could be come reality!
The only requisite is that it either needs to involve the turn of the century (1900) or have a way to tie in to that era.

Maybe something about Captain Nemo and the Nautillus? We could get parts of his log, containing clues to lost Atlantis? There could be parts in code, of course. Or in another language. One thing you could add might be shark teeth. Megalodon teeth aren't that expensive if I recall correctly. All in all it would of course depend on the nature of the item you procured...

What about Japan around the turn of the century. That allows for exotic things like origami and washi paper, both easily available. I'd have to double check, but I think it was around that time the Japanese threw out all foreigners. It could be a spy type thing. And Japan has really really creepy legends. I lived in Japan for a total of 6 years (age 1-3 probably not going to be much help though.). I keep wishing these creative people would get away from England and Egypt for 5 min. Of course, I love Japanese history so I'm biased. Or If I'm using the wrong 1900 it could be based on events leading up to Japan joining WWII. Cool stuff. In really ancient times the Japanese have a myth about a shining ship from the stars. It is mentioned separately by different chroniclers through out the country who had no way of contacting each other. And the descriptions of the ship are surprisingly similar. Just tossing shit out, you know.

Stuff I like the look of from around then:-
- The Boxer Rebellion - Assassination of McKinley - Death of Queen Victoria - Wright Bros
If you wanted a mystery theme, then maybe one of these didn't actually happen the way the history books would have it? If you wanted more factual, then the artifact would be related to a key part of the event.

I'd like to see something related to the burgeoning airship industry, perhaps related to espionage and their potential use as bombers.

Airships are cool. Steampunk can be cool.

Oh gosh, sorry! I meant 1900 BC!
Just kidding. These are all great suggestions and with some shower thinking, I have the skeleton in my head. Over the next month or two as I take the long drives for work (4-8 hour stretches at a time with limited radio options led to the Sound of Insanity. I guess the lack of sound drove me to insanity? Maybe?) I shall begin the construction of the story. The bones right now include some puzzles, interactivity, multiple locations (in-story), multiple time periods, steampunk, and a fancy-but-functional-outside-of-the-experience item in addition to my usual crafty fun stuff.
Thank you all for your input! (Sidenote: I am going to try and source more of the original thing in the thread. Shouldn't be too hard.)
