Horses for courses I guess, I really liked this one - a representation of Carcosa I presume particularly the creepy mask attached, that's brill. Wasn't Carcosa a place? The realm where the King in Yellow was supposed to take place? If it is supposed to be a likeliness of the Kings face it just doesn't cut it. For me it looks like a twisted candy cane with two dots. Just not scary, just disappointing. The mask reminds me of the movie The Strangers. With or without the mask this just isn't a display piece like the tablet from Tempus Fugit, the statue from Beast, the finger from Risen or the artefact from Ceiba tree. It's just a blob and not in a cool way. Just my 2 cents.[\spoiler]

Got my third mailing today. I love the contents of the crate! It got a resounding "That's not going on the bookshelf!" from the husband. The contents of the rolled up message were also fun. The first mailing of KiY also came in with it, which seemed fitting.

You and I are in total agreement. And yes, Carcosa is a place. It seems like the Yellow King's face revealed... which isn't very useful to me. I would much rather received some further clockwork or puzzle. The ring was also amazing, and i am tempted to wear it on the regular.

I dunno, I love this artifact and think it's an amazing looking and creepy set piece on my shelf, though I like the King in Yellow one more than this because of how well it ties into the narrative. The thing that I love about it is the back with the kind of tree imagery which I find eerie and unexpected. To be fair, I may like it more because of how it ties into The Tower. I don't think it's their best Artifact or anything, but I certainly like it more than a fair number of their other artifacts (including the artifact from Tomb). As always, to each their own. Could someone post the Death card in a spoiler tag?

Upon opening the crate my family all exclaimed that the artifact looks like an angry Groot I think the bust is adequately creepy and, like dmikester, I particularly like the sculpture's details on the back. I take it as one of the busts like those mentioned left by the scattering groups of men in the Scotland Yard police reports. It has an organic look to it as if it could reshape itself from being featureless to any person's face, like Joshua Prevort's account of the marble bust during the play. I also liked the last bit of the cipher strip, ha!

I'm curious if anyone else's artifact has a defect on the base (located on what presumably is the front). Big images in the spoiler below. It almost appears like a small label was stuck in the mold and became encased in the resin/plaster. I've contacted MPC about it a couple of weeks ago, but not received a reply yet.

That's weird. It kind of looks like a piece of silicone rubber that peeled away from the mold which would explain why it did not except paint, but my eyes aren't young anymore.
