I'm a bit late to the party. This was my post-Christmas present to myself. I haven't done a deep dig yet, just a cursory glance through things, and my traditional photo documentation as I open things, but I'm exceptionally pleased with this one, even if (especially because?) I had to do a bit of cleaning after opening it. I'm even more pleased that I jumped on the current sale of KiY.
As far as first mailings go, this is probably my second favorite (after the Demon Jar), though that may change after I have some time with it.

I'm becoming disappointed with the increasingly vanishing verisimilitude I am seeing with the newer experiences With this one "BBL," the quite obvious takeoff on DHL (with a hard to mistake similarity in logo font), makes it clear from the first mailing that this shouldn't be mistaken for anything real. I also kind of groaned when I visited the BBL web site and noticed a typo right off the bat

Not to necessarily revive an old thread, per se, but I just received this first mailing. One thing of interest—to me—is the newspaper clippings. At least ... the large one is given the byline of J. Prevort. This corresponds with clippings from The King in Yellow. However .. there is a goof. The days don't match for the same dates on the clippings. (The large from Carcosa, the two smaller from The King in Yellow.) July 3rd, 1895 can't be both Wednesday and Friday. They are from two different papers, though, even with the same bylines. Not really the end of the world or anything. Just an interesting—to me—observation.

It appears to be just a lazy mistake ... unless it's not.

It appears to be just a lazy mistake ... unless it's not. Given the older is the incorrect day for that date, I think you're probably correct. Just a lazy mistake. I was merely amused by it.

Sorry to necro but does anyone remember if this first mailing included a coded message? I'm a bit suspicious of the lined paper note but I haven't been able to get anything coherent out of the bolded letters.

Though you may find a cool Easter egg of the shipping website if you look closely!
