Okay so that is the case so far....a cover letter, and two evidence letters that frame the story. Now the puzzle part is going to be note cards from SLS case workers since they retrieved the safe (need to assign a date.) But card one will show off the code cylinder for the safe. This is just a photoshopped cylinder padlock. I edited out the pad. Cylinder. Notes on the back will mostly just detail the item. Assign an age to it, manufacture or something, all fake information that is basic cataloging stuff. It will also describe how the cylinder is inserted into the safe to unlock it, once the right code is dialed in. Next will be a picture of the open safe itself, that is labelled RST Breach attempt (some date, 1950s) Either on the photo itself or the appended case notes, it will mention that the french government forcibly breached this safe after they acquired it from the OGD. Information Protection in the safe destroyed almost all the contents in the general hold. (could elaborate, this is all filler anyways.) However a letter strongbox integrated into the floor of the safe, with it's own internal locking mechanism survived. DGSI did not risk another breach attempt, and the SLS does not know how many wrong attempts they have, so they are not blind attacking it either. I need to clean up the text for this and choose what text goes where (pictures and photos). I have a few note cards that I've made, that I plan to age to three differnet periods (earliest notes to more recent notes). They'll be compiling notes on cracking this vault code, etc Basically they will provide the cipher text, and then the plain text for the party. It will read "Bernini's lantern light your path to the Father's friend."

This morning I was able to type up two of the case notes, and partially distress / fade the inks for the older of the two. I will age the paper once I give the ink plenty of drying time. PS: I am going to start putting all of these images behind spoilers for the sake of tidiness. Original state (before aging)

Final assembly Got all three mailings together for the first part of the mystery. This is probably the largest of the mailings, since it sets the tone and provides back story. Everything from here is just a link in the chain. One player is getting the photographs, with their notes and some world-building text. Two players (a couple) are getting the original case notes, that include some cipher text and explain the acquisition of the safe and cylinder. Two players (also a couple) are getting the main introduction letter, as well as the two original letters that start the whole case, but don't have any means for breaking the puzzle. The whole mystery, ready for mailing. Close up of the photographs and original case notes. typed text on the back of the photographs. Original letters, the cold case file, and various SLS stock.
