In my inbox this morning. This smacks of a last minute attempt at appeasement ... Hello Professor,
I hope this finds you well, and that you are enjoying the Filigree in Shadow experience we are in the midst of sharing with all of our generous Kickstarter backers (and their recipients)!
I am writing to you today regarding the stand for your Filigree in Shadow artifact for which you pledged. We intended for this to ship out with the artifact, but unfortunately, we need to delay its arrival slightly. As we finalized production of this item, the team found the finish on the stand does not yet to meet our high standards. We want it to match the piece we envisioned from the start so that you will be 100% satisfied with it.
No need to fret as you will see a redeemable ticket for the stand in your Mysterious Package Company membership account by the end of this month. Once redeemed, we will be sending these out during the holiday season. The stand of course is an ideal way to display the artifact, but it is not integral to the experience itself. We hope you will agree that one more Filigree in Shadow mailing to wrap up the experience will be most welcomed!
Thank you for your patience and understanding, and of course should you have any further questions, comments, or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at concierge@mysteriouspackage.com.

I never received an email like the one about the display stand, but this morning I received an email that I have a ticket for a “free” Filigree in Shadow display stand. I suppose “free” is a euphemism for “already paid for”? I’ve redeemed the ticket and it’s supposed to ship on December 29.

My "handsome display stand" arrived today.
It's basically a black, hinged, double curlicue collector plate display stand. Very Victorian looking in it's modern contemporary-ness. Well worth the additional $333 to boost it from the Seance pledge level to the Bespoke Seance pledge level. Well, that and the "custom paint job" on the mask (aside: which I suspect looks just like everybody else's paint job).
Needless to say, I'm unlikely to back any more of their KickStarters.

We should post some photos of the mask so the various paint jobs can be compared.

Ya this display stand is pretty much garbage, also not really sure how to display the mask on it. Looks like it was hastily made as well.

I would bet dollars to donuts that it was purchased.

We should post some photos of the mask so the various paint jobs can be compared. This is mine: the standard issue basic version.

Yup: that's exactly what my mask looks like. Standard issue.

And this is the handsome display stand:
Ok. I hate to be the guy that starts the hate. But, you can get pretty much that same exact stand at any JoAnn Fabrics or Hobby Lobby for $10.

Think I prefer the standard paint job. Sorry about that.

Think I prefer the standard paint job. Sorry about that. I think I would've preferred a display stand that actually supported the mask properly. lol
