For those watching the trends, for Volume 3 Issue 4, 173 members participated in the Delivery Survey. For Gods of Madness, 120 members participated in the Delivery Survey. For Brain Butchers, 82 members participated in the Delivery Survey. For Clockwork Mutineers, 42 members participated in the Delivery Survey. That's a 75% reduction in community participation in less than a year. I'm extremely curious what the numbers look like on their end, though. With no puzzles other than ones that can be easily solved with the "help" of the Codex, there's really no reason for new members enjoying V4 to find this forum.

True...and if the newbies are not finding this forum...and did not access Volumes I-III, then the only ones that really know about the current hidden messages are those on this forum. If you are new to C&C how would you know to look for hidden messages, especially when the answers to the puzzles are all laid out for you? Why would you think to look? The numbers of those "in the know" are shrinking.

The International Puzzle Solving Community that MPC started to build with Volumes 1, 2, and 3 remains very active here on this forum. We have more unique logins per day then ever before. And we're all very active solving puzzles in non-MPC products. The probability exists that in the future, MPC will become a small subsection of this forum instead of the bulk of it.

Interesting. I received Volumes 1 and 2 via the catch-up omnibus almost a year ago to the day. When I emailed MPC regarding questions about the vault, they directed me to this forum. I wonder if they still do that for Volumes 1, 2, and 3?

Perhaps we should go the the MPC Facebook groups and Reddits to let them know about the hidden messages? Sometimes, when I see people asking for help there, I point them here via private message. And if I recall right, was there not a new member a few weeks ago who had been directed to the forums by a Concierge?

Finally arrived in Ireland. Slightly ominous sticker on the box that says 'Goods do not meet the requirement of article 9 and 10 of the contract for the foundation of the european communitee"

173 people participated in the delivery survey for the last issue of volume three - and of everyone who bought volume three, only 87 people have opened the vault in the year or so since that last issue came out.
I think these numbers speak for themselves, this is a sign of the purchasing community showing that overall they deemed the puzzles too hard, and even of the people who were directed here for help only 50% at the absolute maximum managed to solve everything: even with all the help on offer here.
I do not blame them in the slightest for changing tack - the current direction may not be to the taste of many here, but to have CnC as a viable business line they clearly felt these numbers were telling them to dial down on the puzzling.

With the decrease in puzzles I just signed up for Hunt A Killer and Forgotten Folios. I'm looking at some of the others mentioned in the forums as well, and with this last issue may try to delve deeper into the world of cryptic crosswords, though preferably without the 2 AM eureka moments. It makes me sad, though, that they're shifting away from puzzles to heavy curios. I take the point that their solving rate was down, and perhaps thus their subscriptions, but I wish they'd given their loyal fanbase a vote...

Ultimately, the goal of any business is customer retention. When a business' oldest and once loyal customer base starts dropping off, they notice. The good news is that more and more new businesses are courting the clientele that are the heart of this community. If we find ourselves with a void I have no doubt we will find something to fill it.
