My siblings and I were obsessed! We had the action figures and played with them constantly, though I often used them more as just dolls with Luke and Leia being married. They fit regular dollhouse size furniture perfectly. I didn't know the familial connection then of course! Lol! It was probably the first "scary" movie I ever saw on the big screen. (I know, it's not exactly scary, but I was very young!) I think all of the movies I had seen in the theater before that were Disney.

I enjoyed the first Star Wras movie. The one where Luke and Han Solo rescue Princess Liea. I know I saw it in the Theater, though I don't remember where I was at the time. But the subsequent movies have destroyed the franchise for me.

But the subsequent movies have destroyed the franchise for me. Even Empire and Jedi? Sadly, yes. Star Trek has also been a longtime disappointment. I loved the original series so much, my father "recorded" them on his reel to reel tape machine (before VCRs were available). I used to listen to them while I did my household chores. Man, I am so old.

I still watch the original series of Star Trek. They're great. And the blu-rays are terrific, particularly with the updated special effects! They sell region-free blus on amazon.co.uk that are surprisingly reasonable for the whole series.

I used to listen to them while I did my household chores. Man, I am so old. That's a bit sad. I lost interest in Star Trek quite some time ago, but I really love the Expanded Universe novels as sequels, especially Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising and The Last Command. Broke my heart when bloody Disney killed all that in favour of the dribble they are releasing now. I still watch the original series of Star Trek. They're great. And the blu-rays are terrific, particularly with the updated special effects! They sell region-free blus on amazon.co.uk that are surprisingly reasonable for the whole series. With Star Wars, I actually spent good money to get my hands the unadultered original movie versions. They were only released with the Limited Edition of the Special Edition DVD release.

I picked up the Original Series a few years ago on Blu-Ray. Each of the three seasons were in their own package, and they were reasonably priced. What I loved about these was that not only did they include the updated special effects, but they also contained the episodes in their original form.

My youngest was even more Star Wars obsessed than my siblings, husband, and I were. We got the fun of having all of the huge Lego sets and new action figures for years when he was young. I didn't know who half of the action figures were because so many were based on the "Attack of The Clones" TV show that my son used to watch. Anakin was the GOOD guy! We've also had so much fun with the really nice light sabers. Before those, we had a Star Wars themed birthday party for my son, and my husband made a bunch of light sabers out of pvc and pool noodles for all of the kids. I dressed up as Darth Maul and almost got killed. Lol! The kids were actually ninja kicking me and stuff. I thought it would just be the foam light sabers I had to worry about. That was unexpected. Don't worry. I recovered, and the kids never did figure out it was me.

The original versions of the three Star Wars movies were released in a box laser disc set many years ago. The versions that come as a bonus on the DVD set (to which Beckett refers) are not even anamorphic, forget about any sort of restoration. I can't believe that Disney is letting the huge amount of money they would make from releasing blu-rays of the original versions of these films just lay there.

I can't believe that Disney is letting the huge amount of money they would make from releasing blu-rays of the original versions of these films just lay there. And yet I love them dearly! But of course, you are right - the quality on these is abysmal. If Disney released a polished version of the old movies, my conviction to never give these people money for what they did to the franchise would be seriously tested.

I downloaded the Team Negative1 restoration of the original Star Wars and it was beautiful. It felt like seeing it on the big screen again.
