This thread is for discussion of the chapter that contains, among other things, a few pages of words that were written at Playa Del Carmen. If your mailing contains a document matching this description, you are in the right place. Have at it!

The way I see these mailings is there are three different types of objects, story objects, flavor objects, and texture objects. Story objects are things directly related to the story that MPC is trying to tell these can be hard to figure out as we don't really know the story. Then there are flavor objects things that add spice to the story. Lastly are the texture objects these are things that do not have anything to do with the story per se but add depth to the experience. For this mailing I think the web article is the one most related to the story, it really sets the scene. The diary and newspaper article add flavor. The ad and the receipt are really just texture, the receipt means even less without the the diary and newspaper.

I read the receipt before the letter, and when I realised how the two were related, my heart sank. I was like "oh, that's what he... Oh... OH!"

You might want to check the dates on things pretty carefully...
