Why am I sharing this? Well, because most of what I mention below I found because of people here, because I feel like your my friends, and because I can.

This weekend just gone was the annual Asylum event in Lincoln, UK - a steampunk meet over the August Bank Holiday weekend. We took a few of the kids last year - it was hot and crowded and the babies weren't too impressed, but really nice event, so we went back this year and the two teenage girls dressed up for the occasion (and have made plans for developing their costumes for next year) (and my better half and I also found potential costumes for next year, maybe maybe).
Many steampunk curios available for purchase, some artifacts that would fit well within MPC (and in fact I'm thinking next year of getting something that inspires a story and adding it my cabinet of curios with appropriately aged paperwork to accompany)(I still have the germ of an idea for an experience I'm prepared to write so should the right artifact present itself and I'm there).
What really appealed to me this year was the lady who sold hand-crafted journals. Hand sewn, hand designed, hand bound, hand everything - she had loads of them, each one unique, each one with secret bits and bobs hidden in pages or pockets, yet each one with plenty of spare space to write stuff. Each one based on a different theme, including - ciphers and cryptography. Bring it back next year showing me what you'd done with it, and get a (substantial) discount on your next one, she said.
So I caved in and bought one....and decided to make it a record of a year's worth of puzzles, curios, whatever - I took a couple of things from CnC 4.1 and tucked them in; some thoughts on the last Letters From Dead People and glued in one of the pictures, attached a postcard; made an extra pocket for the reward received from completing the first three CPP and cut and pasted the poems from each in....basically *doing something* with some of the bits and pieces we get in these boxes or letters. So I've had it a week and have a plan which I hope to complete to make my own Weeping Book if you like - except for happy thoughts. Is it the sort of thing that in a year's time I can flip back through and think to myself - ah yeah, I remember that puzzle, I remember that issue, it was great?
