It is the introduction to the story and very well exicuted. Looking forward to box 2.

Well, I have to say, this far exceeded my expectations. It's very much a game, which may or may not appeal to some of you, and there are items where they don't even try to make them seem realistic (like a "leather journal" that's just all smooth and glossy). But in a way, especially since this is presented as an interactive game, realism isn't really the point, and much more importantly, the quality level of the content is super high. There's a clear and intriguing mystery, a very impressive amount of well-designed online content just from this first box, and perhaps most appealing to those here there's a fun and clever puzzle hidden within the items in the box that gets you extra and vital content when you solve it.
For those of you who like me discovered the MPC and this genre through ARGs, this is very old-school ARG; you can follow fake social media accounts, discover websites that can only be found by combing other websites, get e-mails sent to you, and you can even chat with a live in-universe person during the day for help if needed. While nowhere near as difficult or as collaborative (yet), this reminds me somewhat of The Beast, which is a very positive thing in my book. Highly recommended, especially since you can get the first box for only $15 due to a promotion that they're running.

OK opened the box, and yeah, nice selection of bits and bobs inside, but a padded envelope would've made international postage cheaper right? Maybe it's just the Friday grumps and I need to read through this stuff and see where it leads...

Without knowing what's in the box, I can offer anecdotally that if there are certain conditions met (ANYTHING too rigid, too thick, or not uniformly thick are the ones I get a lot) even a standard envelope could be considered a "package" and you have to pay a higher price. I have an experience ending in three weeks (shameless plug haha) that I tried many forms of packaging to try and avoid a "package" price for two of the shipments and couldn't make it happen . |
